re side stand
#1
Hi all
Was browsing the other day and i saw mention of a mod to the side stand.
Can anyone enlighten me on this and what it is all about.
Twice in the last couple of days i have had it nearly roll of the stand, it was only my quick thinking action of throwing my body under the bitch that saved it from damage.

Also saw the pickies of the blue backlighting, mine is a blue/black 02 model and i think it would look trick. be my next do i rekon.

Yours Tom
keep it rubber side down hey

I did see some pics of on a USA board. The kickstand had a small notch ground out so the rest sits a bit further in. I will try to find that pic and post it.

Have had a bit of a look, and can't find the pictures.

There were a couple of mods. One was the notch, and another was a bit of a plate which changed the angle.

I think a cautionary extra kick seems to suffice. Never had any real concern with the balance. (That said, I know a couple of riders who have had them drop while on the side stand. Also, I have a centre stand I use on really dodgy places).

Do the stand mod.

I was shifting the Busa when I first got it on the opposite side to the stand, put it down and nudged it a bit and the damn thing rolled forwards, off the stand and onto the garage door spring mechanism thing - fcked the nose up and had to get it repainted. Was spewing.

So easy to do, it'll take you 20 minutes [with the right tools] and it works sweet. Extra security on funny slopes too. The pics linked show it pretty damn well.

Thank guys
will do this weekend.
I have been rolling it back against the engine so that it can not roll of the stand but it does seem to me that the stand could use a little more forward angle. kinda thought that was what it might involve.

Thanks for the link Viking. This was a very easy and effective mod to do.I almost dropped mine on the 1st day of owning it.It was parked in my driveway, which is a very slight down hill slope.I got off the bike to open the gate and the thing started to roll foward.Luckly i caught it just in time.Never trusted it since.

not sure about you guys but i ALWAYS leave my bike in first gear whenever i drop the side stand and then before i lean the bike onto the stand, i always roll the bike forward to take up the drive line slack if i'm facing downhill, eliminating the possibility of 'rolling',,
