Fantastic news, and I apologise for not getting in to see you. Too much to explain except we had our own panic and problems with a visitor having a suspected heart attack!!
Really great to hear you complaining and you've made me think hard about the back protector too. I had leathers made to take them, but because it's still pretty new and tight, I haven't bothered. Maybe I just need to strain harder.
Back to mundane things....hows the bike?

G'day Ohzone, really glad to hear you up and at home - back to getting into mischief and trouble at home

You mentioned that you have a back brace to help you get up and around? Was it like this 1 I just wore for 3 months?? Mine was just 3rd in country... not even ALFRED Trauma doctors had ever seen one - waited a week while they imported it... If so, they hurt, but was the best thing ever for healing

Sorry to take so long getting back to you guys
I haven't much felt like sitting at the PC and I have been wishing I had got around to running a line into the main bedroom to hook the laptop into!.
I put my system in a few years back as a network rather than wireless mainly because of the security at the time.

AeroCat4 thanks for making me realise that I will "get there" eventually and I am sorry that you had to go through this also
I call my brace "Jaws" it pushes on my chest just below my neck and also on the pelvis at the front, then there is a strap and pad at the back that is tensiond to push your back forwards so in profile it tries to make you look like an "s".
Not quite the same as your's but similar
What stage are you at now mate?

Hey Bear no sweat on the visiting mate! We can keep in touch via here or email
Thanks for the offer of the Mags but I am all sorted with movies and books, a kind offer none the less!.

Bear or anyone else think hard about the spine protector I literally had hardly any other injuries apart from a few bruises because the safety equipment did it's job, I can't guarantee that a spine protector would have saved the back but I suspect it would have helped a lot

Brian,
No problem about the mags, just let me know if you want them.
As for the spine protector, when I had my leathers made I allowed room for one. But as they came a bit tight and needed to be worn a bit, I haven't bought one and stuck it in, but that's the intention for sure. Made all the more important by what happened to you. I take it your body ended up backing into a tree?
I guess nobody will ever know what went wrong for you, it could be any number of things.
Now I hardly ever use my bike on the road now (but I have got it at work today!), as at least there are no trees at Wanaroo!! I'd like to get a few more local Busa's up there, but haven't had much luck so far.
Keep us posted on progress!

Bear.
Get a back protector.
Wear it ALL the time as it is prob when u least expect it eg going to work that u will need it.
No argument my friend.
100 bucks done.
Don't even know I have mine on.
And it gives you the big back look to boot.
Cheers,
Pete

G'day Ohzone, sounds like your progressing well by just the sound of your attitude - keep it up man !! ... (& that too for the Mrs.)

Personally, next week will be the 1 year anniversery of my accident, and havent regretted it, or blamed anyone for the accident .... Positive Pete is what they call me .... SHIT HAPPENS, and really only 1 thing that can be noted as to why I'm still here, not para or quadraplegic, and looking fitter than before .... The 1 thing is .... I WORE A BACK PROTECTOR, and the right gear for the conditions (bitterly cold that day so rugged up, but always draggin jeans at least and Dainese jacket with full protection! (Not being critical of anyone, but it would like riding our bike without a helmet - 1 knock and your gone usually, unfortunately your Back is the same, but not recognised as much for unknown reasons?!

My brace (your Jaws ) is different I realise now. I couldn't have anything that sat on or rested against my pelvis like you, cause I samshed my pelvis open 5 inches wide at front! Took 36 hours to pull back together (LOVE THAT MORPHENE), and now I'm built like a new bike (Titanium & Stainless Steel plates and screws)

Mate, I'm cruising across to Perth in November for the Red Bull Sky Air Races around the Swan River, so I might be able to pop in and say hello, since I'll be driving. Keep at it, and lap up the nurse treatment .... it don't last !!!! (unless you got bathed by 4 nurses like me once! )

and BEAR ... there is a topic about Back Protectors on here somewhere.... about which ones are better and comfortable. Can't remember where it is, but maybe DJ might know, or try the Search button. Cheers Mate, will save you heaps of time researching.

Thanks guys, I will research and get the back protector!
Appreciate the thoughts and concern. I bang on a bit about getting the local Busa boys on to the track, as I believe that is the very best way to improve riding skills and therefore hopefully negate the need for any back protection. It's also by far the safest place to give it a bit of wellie. But when it's all said and done, as other threads show, shit happens, and you may just be parked at the lights when you get flattened. We've had a few fatalities over here that have been so strange.
We should all learn from the unfortunates who suffer through painful recoveries, like Ohzone and Aerocat.

Cheers

I think the spine protector is virtually a necessity and more fool me for not having one at the time.

AeroCat4 sounds like you were busted up worst than me mate I am glad for you that you are so much better now you must have been through hell and back.

I am sure all the guy's would love to see you in November including me!

Andy would be better able to describe how I ended up Bear but I will say that they are now calling me "Ditch Bitch " as there was some type of hole involved and he was the one who extracted me out of it
