Before getting worried about no sticker, a lot of new visors has the AS # molded/etched into the plastics. Check the LHS near pivot, hard to see if you don't know its there.

It gets written up as "failed to wear an approved motorcycle helmet". As there is no actual law yet for the visor.

How they swing it is, as soon as you 'attach' the visor, your helmet no longer meets Australian Standards
and is no longer an approved helmet.

What a load of bulls$&t.you poor Victorians, your state must be as broke as NSW for that sort of nonsence to be happening.be interesting if your pulled up by a bike cop and ask if his gov issued helmet/visor passes the same said standard, and if not it just makes them the biggest bunch of Hippocrites around. But I bet they don't get fined for it

I see it like this
The australian commonwealth govt made it
Mandatory law to wear an mandatory tested & certified helmet..
In 1988.

In 2004 the commonwealth govt sold its testin facilities to sai globel.
Since then they do not reconise or standby there
Testin facilities.

Only helmets are mandatory tested no visor's
Only visor's are volentarily tested for safety standards

Police enforce commonwealth govt mandatory laws
Thus our helmets ,& taged on the back in silver foil

Police dont enforce " volentary "

No sticker on your visor = $289.oo & 3 points
I wouldnt pay
I would tell that cop his job

He can only enforce mandatory laws

Cops cant give out tickets for visors,
They're not engineers & indepent safety
Testers & dont have those qualifications to do so

No judge would stand by it

What about headlight visors ??

So next philip island super bikes & motogp
The cops will be out to be pricks about it

My thoughts are to see if I can get an AS approved visor tinted at a car tint shop....100% compliant!!!

Also, I figured out a way to emboss the AS mark into my existing visors and have it look legit.
The AS marks aren't etched, the logo is raised which is the giveaway...so it can't be just scribed in.
Need to get creative, but I think I may have figured something out....just gotta try. Will not keep
anyone 'posted' if it works, but hey...word of mouth in a club travels just as good....and privately.

The sticker is just a visual reference and quick indicator to cops, but like Rod said....came off when I washed
it....all the bug splat made my sticker last 2 minutes......but look the AS mark is embossed on the visor.

MMmmm.... Bikerboy I think an internal etched/heat pressed AS mark would be enough for most plods to get fooled... as long as it's fully visable like the "original" then how would theyh know it was fake?????? hell most don't know the actual laws they are upholding!!!!

I do like the idea of an aftermarket tint for OEM visor but luckily I have an internal drop down sun visor on mine and it will be a constant helmet requirement form now on LOL

actually no it's not Dale LOL

they can get you for a badly scratched visor even though it's AS stamped. A bit like a cracked windscreen in the drivers sight zone

The visor laws are covered by the safety eye wear standard and crosses over into vehicle visual requirements laws...

basically the visor has to be tested so that is doesn't shatter on impact, whether it's hitting the deck or impact by a stone, bug, etc while riding. Just think what would happen if it shattered so close you your eyes???? instant blindness quickly followed by death from crashing @ $1.00+ and the very high possibility of killing others as you turn into a cruise missile. They also need to adhere tot eh visual ratings of windscreens in regard to maintaining clarity and not reducing visual awareness. Not sure if anyone has tried but you cannot tint your cars windscreen and any cracks in a certain zone in front of the driver makes it an instant red sticker (defect)...

While a pain in the ass I find nothing wrong with why the laws are there though it's a bit weird they can defect your whole helmet due to a removable visor... THAT I would fight in court!!!!!!!!

I bought my Shoei brand whilst in Japan so it too doesn't have the dreaded decal.
I suppose the money I saved would cover the fine if it came to that.
Mine's got the removable cheek pads etc and this feature was not available in Australia when I bought it.
