A couple of things I didn't know about Abbott:

A student newspaper editor with political views opposed to those of Abbott took him to court for indecent assault after he touched her during a student debate; these charges were dismissed by the court.

Abbott was a student boxer, earning two Blues for boxing while at Oxford. Abbott was a heavyweight with modest height and reach.
