AHC YEARLY CALENDAR

Yes folks, this has been raised before and IS going to happen

I am going to create a yearly calendar that I would love to be handing out (after you pay for it LOL) at Tathra this year but will be available each new year at Tathra or ordering 1 month prior.

ROD has mentioned this projects was tried quite a few times before but never got off the ground. So to fix this I am going to say
"I AM GOING TO CREATE A CALENDAR NO MATTER WHAT"

Now the design of that calendar will be up to the creative effort of anyone willing to give a hand. If no one does then it will be the sole creation of a guy that is happy to be called Batty

Now.... how these are printed and what they will cost IS dependant on enthusiasm, involvement and the willingness of people to make orders AND pay for calendars before they are printed.

OPTION 1
I end up doing it all myself with no pre-orders. So it will be done using Vista Print using what ever photas I can find in a format I design and available at the max price for 1 off orders.. While I will do this I think it's the worse option cause I ain't no graphics/promotion designer and the Club deserves more.

OPTION 2
A collaboration of members to make up the design, layout, format, pictures, etc... But with no pre-orders so it's still done through Vista Print for 1 off orders. This idea is getting closer to what I would like so that the calendar is more a representation of OUR club.

OPTION 3
A collaboration of members to make up the design, layout, format, pictures, etc... WITH pre-orders so a printing company can be used to both guarantee quality and reduce costs. To me the perfect way to go!!! I envisage that the pre-orders cover the costs of min prints if the orders are less than that cost AND any future sales goes into the AHC coffers to be given back to us members at each year's gathering in some form.

ANY DESIGN WILL BE PRE-APPROVED BY ROD, EVEN MY OWN, AS IT WILL BE CONSIDERED A CLUB PROMOTION

So comon peeps, I know there are very talented people in this club and I am not that talented LOL... Lets see if we can get a 2015 Calendar up and going in next few months followed by a full year of making the 2016

Hey Batty great idea and I would be one of the 1st to put my hand up to buy one as well, I'm not one of those talented people on a computer but what did you have in mind for pictures to go on the Calendar.

Would you ask for members to send through photos and put the pictures up for members to vote on ?? or would you do the Batty Voting System - Oh I like that or Ohhhhh That's Crap ..

You could even do the 1st Calendar with each month showing each model / year for 12yrs, e.g. Jan 99, Feb 2000, March 2001 etc. which could also be done from photos from the members bikes from the forum.

Anyway just a suggestion but a great idea and would be awesome to see it get of the ground.

yes I thought of just having 13 years of bikes 99-12 (remember the cover too and it could be the 99 copper)

or maybe a colour for each month

or a State

1/2 the year gen 1, other half gen 2

can't forget teh modded busas

maybe linking pics to something in that month like a last years group shot for the Dec month, GP month, Superbike month...

see the ideas are endless LOL

Also while Vista only allows 1 pic/month we could get someone to doctor up a poic that has several smaller pictures added to a main one so we could get over 70 bike pics per calendar (RODs idea not mine LOL)

as for any picture voting... each month would get a poll based on the theme desided on for that month

Thats a great idea mate.
I would like to see the pictures of our own bikes - good, bad or anyway they come. rather than studio pictures?
Maybe not with some of the butt ugly people we've got - just the different bikes, taken locally.
Or some of the big group shots with all the buss lined up - that sort of thing?

As you all know I am a dedicated worker doing a 8-5 job that never NEVER gets side tracked away form my work for other trivial things, so............


My first idea generated in the grey mush between my ears is the cover

thinking it is taken up by a big version of our logo BUT the centre is replaced with a picture of the iconic copper/silver 99 ripping through the logo with the year printed underneath the bike


this way we have the AHC ringing the logo, the flagship busa and the year

Perhaps a good way of getting everyone involved and making it a club effort is to allow each member to submit one picture for the month that their "bike year" will be featured.

It can be whatever takes their fancy - creative or plain.....

All submissions that are received by the cutoff date given are then pre-approved by AHC and those that make the cut are posted for members to vote on their choice for each month. Maybe give a week and then close that too.

The submission for each month with the greatest number of votes by members gets in the calendar.

Benefits are;

1. Members do all the work rather than one poor (passionate, crazy, bat-like) sod

2. AHC endorsed

3. Members together determine the layout for 'their' club calendar - and it will be the active members who use the forum regularly who will be voting - and who would be most likely to get a calendar anyway.


Perhaps the winning submissions all receive a calendar for their efforts or a framed copy of their submission with a "AHC Calendar 2015 - March" (or whatever theirs was) at the bottom. I'd be happy to add a few bucks towards that kind of award.

You should find out if they can do something like a contact sheet with every submission (thumbnail style) at the back of the calendar - so all the effort of the club is included in a small way.



Whatever happens, I'm happy to pre-order and pre-pay for one.

Great idea Homer

Let's start with this... I will start a new pole where peeps can "vote" for the month they wanted there pic, that was emailed to me, in. This way everyone can also see which months are filling up too and we all get to see how many are wanting to be in the calendar.

Btw as this is happening we will be sorting out the layout, etc...

P.S. People sending pictures can ask for their bike to be in more than one month....

AND we might have a layout with main full page bike with a few smaller bike pics around the page..

My wife votes for a fireman style calendar where we are draped over our bikes half naked. And before anyone says anything, remember she was sick and psycho enough to marry me last year LOL

No probs ROD..,

I can think of 2 different layouts... And a few variations of each style

1. Simple picture above month on back of previous month page
1.1 picture with only AHC logo in corner
1.2 picture with logo and details of bike, member and picture (eg location, year, etc)

2. Main picture as in #1 plus "runner up" small pictures on the edge (where depends on main picture)
2.1 same extra as 1.1
2.2 same extra as 1.2

If needed I will try to put up a sketch of what I am talking about

Please add your idea and we will have a vote during the month.

Coming up to 1/2 way through the month and pictures have stopped coming....

Common people I know there are THOUSANDS of good member busa pics out there. Get your ass into gear and mail them to me.

On the 1st of October I will be putting up voting pages for members to pick pictures
