GIVING CREDIT WERE CREDIT IS DUE

We all bitch about people and businesses that screw us over and occasionally praise a few that treat many of us good but today I got reminded of what the biking community is all about......

Today I decided to put all the good stuff I can on my 01... Starting with he font wheel BUT.... Axel needs a 24mm hex bit to undo and we all know they ain't gunna spin easy

Launceston ain't a big city, more a town and on a week day there might be 6-7 places to try to find such a large hex bit... Unfortunately I was hunting or one at 10am on a Saturday morning.
The day instantly removed any engineer tool companies and mechanic garages. I was left with a couple of specialist tool sellers and the standard shops like REPCO, Supercheap, Autobarn, etc.....

Lets just say the standard shops SUCKED lol, thn he specialist shops SUCKED too lol

Was thinking I was fukked..... Then thought "lets go to Suzuki" .... They might have fukked up my insurance quotes but then they might have the tool I need....

Well they don sell tools..... BUT... The guy on floor was a mechanic too and after hearing my plight gave me HIS multi hex bit to use until Tuesday morning... A FUKKEN LEGEND

And his is after the Senior Mechanic did a 5 minute suspension adjustment on rear for nothing that stopped my ass bouncing over the road when riding harder than normal...

Hey You got a Bunnings in Tas ?
Theses are available in the building section there used to connect threaded rods that tie down patios etc for support

On the 2 trips ive done to Tas we have found a couple of suzuki dealers that were very obliging & let us use there street

I used a nut and bolt and welded the nut to the bolt. Found them both in a bucket of nuts,and bolts at work.

my front wheel tool is a bolt welded to a short bit of RHS

And while this post is up and running I should say a big thank you to the guys at Marriott's Motorcycles in Leongatha who helped get my M109 back on the road again after The Super Bikes.. They moved Heaven and Earth to help us get going

Its the same for my Suzuki shop up in the Ville (I used to work for them about 4 y ago) but they still lend me swing arm tools and other stuff that I don't have ... and have a good rapport with them..

I don't think a lot of business owners realise that bending over backwards just that little bit further than the others will result in a lot of repeat business ..

We do it in my job (general engineering) and it is surprising how "loyal" customers will actually get.

GSX1400 and Gen1 both use a 24mm key,
very close to being a 15/16th size....

plus the guys all got me, I never even though of using a 16mm nut as alternative.. effing good idea guys LOL

plus I think $5 for a nut is a bit cheaper than any allen key (if you could buy it by it's self)

Electrical wholesalers sell them, ask for booker/threaded rod extender/joiner.
its very common they should all have them.
