Just creeping in on the transport side. Im lookn at getting a new bike from S.A, and was wandering if anyone has had any dealings with the transport company Bikes Only?
The net. quote for a Harley (new addition hopfully) from Adelaide S.A. to Boulder W.A. was around $760 including insurance.
Any ideas?

i did use Bikes only some years back,they took my 1985 gsxr750r to radelaide from here ,excellet mob bike arrived at the new owners place unmarked,it did take 2 weeks though from coffs harbour to radelaide

I have used bikes only about 4 times and I have a busa to be picked up in Sydney to Melbourne Thursday . no problems but check the insurance out it does not cover your bike for small damage caused in transit they only cover you if truck crashes .
Just have a good read of there insurance

Transit Insurance ( included): Fire, flood, theft,collision and/or overturning of the conveying vehicle.
Bikes Only is not an authorised agent for the purposes of selling insurance. It is the customers sole responsibility
to arrange insurance of the motorcycle for all other damages not included in Transit Insurance Cover and the customer
acknowledges that such insurance shall not be arranged by Bikes Only.

Just got a call from Tasmanian Motorcycle Transport (the company that handles bikes into and out of Tassie)
They had to tell me they would be picking up, and thus dropping off, bike 1 day late. They apologised for this and hoped that it was still okay....
They are also going to now do a road worthy inspection for $50 (normally costs 90-120) as soon as it arrives PLUS if for any reason it does not pass they will NOT charge me for it...

Compared to the previous IDIOT, Watkins, I am very happy and pleased so far... now just got to have the bike

if things go well I ight have bike ready to ride this weekend... fingers crossed it passes inspection

BTW.. the transport Co has a view that louder bikes are a safety feature, so unless it's extremely loud it will pass

THE BIKE HAS LANDED IN THE STATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got a call (and yes Pete they finally found the keys) and bike is ready for pick-up. Unfortunately after an initial look at bike they decided no point in going further with paper work for road worthy as it wont pass.
The bits that are not acceptable are:
> mirror area to small
> spikes are to sharp and thus not acceptable

some fiddle this weekend on bike and it WILL be ready for inspection next week. My first maiden run will be the ride to mechanic which is a lazy 35 k's
