Tires are a personal thing.
I don't actually like the 55 profile much, the ones I've used (BT014, Pure, Pirelli) seem to squirm a bit, wall flex, so I stick to the 50 Q2.
I see what you are saying about a 55 on the track though, that makes sense.

There's a lot more than just the profile.
I find a difference between various brands/model
of both 50's and 55's in shape and profile.

Busa's, B-Kings, GSX1400's etc all seem to have
quite conservative geometry, and all have a long
stable feel to them. I don't think a little lift in the
rear in tyre height or suspension does any of them
much harm if its something that suits the rider.

I agree its a person taste thing.
I've ridden lowered Busa's and hated them.
