Looking @ 2000 Bus this weekend for my father-in-law, most important thing I gleaned is:
1. check for the oil line at base of head (RHS) that feeds CCT showing proper 'fix'.
2. alloy sub-frame (2000 was changeover to steel?)
Apart from the usual, anything I should be wary of specific to 2000?
If he takes it my other duty is to ride it 300km home. Recall was done, but not known if oil line is installed. If not, I wonder what kind of risk it would be to ride it home - I'm sure current owner regards it as 'sound'...but ticking time bomb - be just my luck to go on the trip home, then try explainng <i></i>
shud be able to tell if has oil line to oil cooler for cct. If not and no manuel tensioner, I wouldnt risk the long drive home rather tell him to ride to local suzi for cct update.
my bike is now 8 yrs old and yes am still on alluminium subframe, so its not imperative that it has have a steel one, just check joints and along top rail for any cracks. <i></i>
I think 2001 was first model to get steel sub frame - my '99 was fine with the alloy frame until i started to do a lot of 2 up riding with luggage - then weld split at 35000 klm - bought a steel one as it was same price as alloy one 2nd hand.
Maybe i got a bad weld - but if he intends doing a bit of 2 up then i suggest buying a 2nd hand steel frame and spend the couple of hours to change it over - there are a few of the drag guys who would be interested in buying the alloy one for the weight saving i'm sure.
Cheers Ruffy

The CCT recall issue should be checked out thoroughly.
Failure to do so can lead to catastrophic & very expensive repair bills. (Just ask a few guys in here)
There is really only one way to do it properly, remove the right hand fairing and physically check yourself.
There have been many cases where owners have not checked this out only to have serious engine damage occur at a later date.
The black rubber oil pressure line routes from the main oil gallery on the front upper right side of the crankcase & goes rearwards & upwards to the CCT located at the rear of #4 cylinder.
If this oil line is in place, the recall has been done.
Good luck with it.

If you know exactly what you're looking for you can see it through the crack between the right fairing and the fuel tank with a flashlight!
"sometimes crime does pay"<i></i>
What's a flashlight Pan
Oh..you mean a torch
You Woolomooloo Yanks confuse me sometimes
Yeah you can see it.... IF...... you know what you are looking at
f****d if I'd risk it <i></i>
Best to take the fairing off and have a good look if you're not sure.
Of course, you could extend the rev approach and be super-cautious to avoid any risk IF you don't know what an oil line looks like. Take the fairing off, have it towed to a bike mechanic (or even better to Suzuki headquarters in Melbourne) with a photo of what the oil-line looks like (images available on hayabusa.org)... and ask if it's actually there...

Yep - printed the photo Pan posted some time ago...with finger indicator the black oil line, looks straight forward enough to inspect, will first try hinge tank up with light.
Owner says it's not speed limited, does that means 2000 has 340 km/h speedo? This main interest to buyer as novelty/collector value, otherwise my recommendation in K3+ when Suzi seemed to iron out the bugs and fine-tuning started (32bit EMS etc.)
<i></i>
Ah forget it......just buy the fucker <i></i>
Yes it is a 340 speedo version. Just fit a dumb TRE and get it dynoed. She will be beaut.
P.S. stick good quality full synth oil in it as well.
They run smoother and faster.

I'm not using it anyway!<i></i>
use that militec snake oil - good for an extra 10 Hp Chopper says "Harden the f*** up Australia"<i></i>
The old snake again
We've got some mileage out of that baby
10HP for sure there + the wreckers say you get another 10 when they loosen up at around 100,000K <i></i>
