Someone needs to get a portable EMP device, and go around zapping these gits.

A semi-expensive Neodymium magnet would probably do some sort of damage do most speed cameras, especially if they use a magnetic hard drive. Just attach it, move it, detatch, next.

Just one about the size of 2 slices of bread can carry the weight of a typical hayabusa.

Or a paintball gun with black pellets directed at the lens. Very inconspicuous, the impact would be difficult to spot unless a close inspection is made.

You could deactivate an entire city borough in a matter of minutes, if you applied yourself - and I guarantee you there are those amongst us that are sick enough of being exploited to do it.

The article on telly noted that in Qld there are currently 4 of the "Tradie Utes" on the road with more to come by the Christmas holiday season. I think I heard them say there would be 15 by the end of 2011. But not sure....

Well, I guess it'd be safe to assume that they're lying, just like how the NRMA lied about how many/what colour privately owned speed cameras we'd have in NSW.
There are probably 10 of those utes, with another 50 to come next year.

I run the m1 daily between robina and yatala. has anyone else noticed the increase in old shitters parked on the side of the highway

i wonder if they are another attempt to catch the unsuspecting motorist.

i dont have an issue with the speeding(within reason) motorist on a freeway

school zones yes, over 40 and you should cop a hefty fine

pommie your 4km over fine (Scary fark me)

anna bligh comment on digital speedo may be well and good for those cars and bikes fitted with one but what about those which are not( i would love to get her to drive me from yatla to robina without creeping over using a non digital speedo with crusie control

i do have a problem with motorists on mobile phones far more dangerous then speeding in my oppinion

I completely disagree. If the Government was actually concerned about children getting run over outside schools, they would have built fencing and footbridges that went over the road .
The only reason they are slamming people for doing 60 in what is normally a 60 zone is because they can get away with it. - All they have to do is play the emotion card, i.e. "You could have killed a small child, etc, etc." and many people will be guilted into believing it.
And, of course, there are all of the credulous morons in society who also believe whatever propaganda they hear. "Speed kills." No, it doesn't. But that's what they keep hearing, so they believe it and repeat it.

Speeding tickets are simply another form of taxation. The NSW Government relies on two things to keep them from going bankrupt: speeding fines and stamp duty, both being massive rorts.

I will have to disagree on this one rainbow, speed does not a major issue on freeways as proven on the autobarns

however school zones and built up residential streets are a different matter. children are exactly that, children and unpredictable, they will run out in front of traffic without hesitation,
A prime example was here last year northern end of the goldcoast, a little girl 3 or 4 spotted her grandparents pull up to the her house and parked across the street, she ran out to greet them in here excitement, and the unthinkable happened,

i have 4 children and i am strict when it comes to teaching them road sense but even they have made mistakes which has scared the crap out of me but fortunately all ended well, i told my son aged 4 he knows better but lets go back to my earlier comment, kids will be kids they neither act nor think like responsible adults so it is up to us as parents/adults to protect and if this means lower speeds around schools i am all for it...

if the street where the young girl had a 40 or even thirty km speed limit she may have had half a chance

are you a parent rainbow ??

i cannot rely on nor should i expect the government to make my children safe in the form of footbridges, escorts at evey bus stop etc.

The average home size has changed from a 1/4 acre or 1000sqm when i was a child to just 458 today
backyards are almost non existent, so more and more children are forced to play on the limited front law or worse still the road out the front, i am surprised more fatilities and driveway accidents are not occuring in residential areas

in summary i love speed hence the reason for drag racing, and at times i have been known to get the best out of the 06 with nos pouring in her guts by the bucket full but there is most definately a time and place for this and around schools and residential areas are not one of these places

someone would dob you in here if you did that, like those knobs that hog the overtaking lanes at 5 km lower than the speed limit, or sit too close to the car they aren't over taking and stopping everyone else from over taking too
