Gold Coast Ride, Sat 13/11/2010
#1
At the moment, I'm trying to put together a group for a ride on Saturday, meeting up at Mobil Nerang at about 9am, then heading out to Beechmont, canungra for a coffee, then through to North Tamborine, yatala, and then through the cane fields of Jacobs Well and back to the Coast.

So far I have my son and a couple of mates (not from the forum). Anyone from the forum interested?
Cheers,
Terry

weather permitting I should be good for this one, as I live not far from Yatala and would probably leave the ride there, better start time for me also as I dont have to leave home so early.

Dreamer, pretty sure that one of the guys has to start work at 2pm, so we should be back in time for that.

I'll keep an eye on the weather radar, the odd passing shower is ok, but if it is full on rain it will be a non starter. For those that need to be back for work, we can see how we are going for time after coffee at Canungra. If it's cutting it too close, those that need to could just go straight back via Nerang, cant see any problems though, one of my favourite routs.

I'll post again this evening.
Cheers,
Terry

I went over Tamborine this morning for a quickie and it was slippy as all buggery going down towards Thunderbird Park. Bit of a dingle there too, 3 cars and a tanker. I reckon one of the cars was trying to overtake the tanker going up the hill and forced the other two off the road

if you dont want to go up and over the mountain we could always head out to Boyland, then back to the five ways, then thru towards Beenleigh. You could then head towards Yatala via Stanmore road at Wolfdene. I ride these roads quite often when I need to get out and about.

ps its only an alternative I am happy to go which ever way

Looking good:

Forecast for Saturday
Mostly fine, just a possible shower. Light to moderate N to NE winds.

Precis: Possible shower
City: Min 20 Max 27
Bayside: Min 19 Max 26
UV Alert: 7:20 am to 3:50 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 16 [Extreme]

I am intending to go from Canungra, through Mundoolan, Tamborine Village then Woolfdene, Yatala, Jacobs Well, Pimpama then Coomera where we will have to rejoin the M1. It's a great ride, decent roads. If anyone wanted to join us from Brisvegas, they could return home from Yatala, or continue on.

I will check the BOM site again in the morning, I should post again around 8am.
Cheers,
Terry
