screen tinting
#1
Just wondering if anyone has had thier original screen tinted by the likes of car window tinters. I like the look and feel of my original but would like it darker. I know there are after market ones available but this would be a much cheaper option.

never heard of it being done, Steve.....but where there's a will, there's a way, i guess?
a lot of difference (curves) between a bike screen and the generally flat surfaces they are used to workin' with but....

Just painted the back of mine with black enamel. Looks good, I did f*** up the second coat because it's so damn cold in VIC, but I fixed it. Also did the pegs, which was a bad idea, but for a cheap mod until I got the money for rear sets should be fine.

Mine is completely opaque though. Tinting might be a bit trickier.

Why not buy a cheap aftermarket screen off Ebay (or similar)? I bought mine from China (or somewhere over that way) earlier this year for my Gen 1, and it fitted perfectly....and for about $40 delivered to ya door, ya can't go wrong.

Cheers

Talk about laugh...I nearly did....but seriously, I was a bit hesitant to order a cheapy from OS, but pleasantly surprised when it arrived...actually a bit darker than I thought it would be (but suits me fine) and it fitted first go no probs at all. Yellow or not, best $40 I've spent for a while, and if it deteriorates I'll just buy another bugger.

just got mine screen today from china for the busa... best $40 screen. Nothing wrong with these ones.. Nice fitting too. Better than paying $200+ from Mr Suzuki or any other over priced shop.

also, from the same ebay seller (idealhere-australia) i bought a GSXR1000 about 4-5 months ago... can't fault the screen or seller.. That screen was $40 to my door as well.

Heres the pic of the busa screen.

That's the one....great value for money ...I put a little bead of silastic on the tab that slots in above the headlight (bottom left hand corner of your pic) so that it wouldn't rattle when fitted.

Hey Grant & Craig,
that's the exact same one I had, and the cheap bastard cracked right thru from top to bottom!!!Wtf
.....but considering the fact that just before it cracked, I WAS involuntarily playing amateur stuntman in my local westfield shopping centre carpark (had the arse-end lit right up at 90 degrees speedway style, then I decided to do my best highside over the bars superman impersonation, with myself & the bike sliding 30 mtrs along the bitumen!!!
So, considering the circumstances, i think the screen was justified in giving up the ghost!
The best part out of this crappy story is that my mechanic found the exact same one to replace it with, which is just fine by me......coz I absolutely love that f*ckin screen (it's the only one that I've EVER been tucked behind at 290km/h down the straight at PI!)Pi_thumbsup
