hi guys and girls up for a new set of tyres very soon, undecided what brand but im wondering has any one ran a tyre wider than the factory 190?i have a k9 busa and comparing to my mates k8 r1 he has a 190 also, just thinking my bike could cope with a wider rear tyre as his rim size looks to be smaller but has the same size tyre as me.ant input would be greatly appreciated.

i ran my 01 with nothing but 200's on the back end. then my 99 came with a 190 when i bought it which i switched out to a 200 and then my 08 had a 200 shinko on the back for a period of time but had to go back to the 190 because my tyre guy didnt have any 200's in the tyre i wanted so 190 it was. the effects are pretty minimal, alot of people will argue till there blue in the face that a thinner tyre is better and it may well be but id much prefer the busa to be factory fitted with a 240+ rear end. i like em big....................

Dan

The wider tyre will effect your entry into corners as the bike won't want to tip in as much. Other option is to go with a higher profile but then you may have less rubber contact patch. If you like cornering you may be better to stick with standard. Obviously yanks don't go round corners.

i dont know about you guys and a wider tyre wont let a bike tip in i even wonder if most of the fat tyre haters can even ride a bike to its full potental or ya just putt around like your riding a harley cruiser seriously have any off you guys ever riden a fat tyre bike or just listen to what some other idiot tells you a 200 from a 190 wont change shit i have caned sports bikes with 240s on them and they still handle and all they need is a touch more of a push im building my 330 gen 2 just so all the narrow minded people can sit around and say SHIT THAT MUST HANDLE LIKE CRAP and yes it will corner maybe sometimes you just need a better rider 8-) cheers all with ya 190s

good to hear that info on the wider tires because i love those big 300s on the yank busa,s i myself think the stock bike should of had the 200 on it i,m due for a new rear but the bike shop said the 200s are alot dearer than the 190s i,ve heard people say it slows the handleing down but i think most of us are not good enough riders to notice a very slight differance in handling.
SPEED ISN,T EVERYTHING BUT IT SURE IS FUN.

I've used 180s, 190s and 200s and have decided that the best tyre is the one with loads of tread on it. I get them from the wrecker - a good tyre is wasted just pottering up and down the heavily policed roads, commuting.
Carpe Diem!
