They are also ridiculously overpriced for what you get 30 grand for a pushrod motor who are they trying to kid, but people still buy them, Got me, I just don't understand .
Yep. It's all about the image.
I know quite a few Harley owners, only two of whom are not massive posers. As the saying goes: "Live to Pose. Pose to Live."

Mate ,whatever floats your boat. I reckon Harley Davidson have pulled off the biggest scam of all time & million's are still falling for it .I Do however ,Admire anyone who can ride a motorcycle in THAT seating position I'd Die .

Thank God you didn't mention the Vespa Pi_freak

Yeh, on second thoughts, I WILL do the track day on the 15th with YOUR Busa Bruce! Knuppel2
Roll

I love these threads... We have mates (several here) that ride Harleys too... Can't believe the generalisations we (some Busa owners) make! How many of us use all the HP the Busa has? How many of us couldn't out-run a Harley rider, but still brag about having a Busa...? There's a bloke running in A-grade at EC on a Harley... would love to see any of the Harley Haters race against him Boobies4

I say good on em.
Personally though, I still don't like the damned bike much!
Go on... say it...

I hear ya, Pan. There's not much sense in a busa on our 'no nonsense Policed roads', but a Harley makes even less sense - not as a lifestyle maybe, but certainly as a machine. The best Harley I'd seen was the Porche designed one all those years ago, and Harley die hards hated it because it was water cooled and GOOD. Who owns that bike in your pic? Any noticeable difference riding with someone on a cruiser?

Surely, most things that are advantageous about a motorcycle have been removed by that riding position. I was given a Japanese cruiser once as a courtesy bike and although it was fun by the end of the day, everything it did well is done better by a car. I can get into anything, but like gardening and cooking I think I'll nip Harleys in the bud...especially at 2 busa prices. :-)
Carpe Diem!

That bike belongs to a really good mate. Top bloke! Much like my Busa mates, he helps out any time you ask...

Riding with him was good. We're both sensible riders, both have families, both have no death-wish, both have intense fear of crashing, etc... so we cruised along well together.

Fact - "98% of all harley Davidsons made are still on the road."
Also a fact - "the other 2% made it home!"
If you're telling a Hardley rider the above facts, duck just after introducing him the the second fact!
Good weather, good woman, good road, good bike, good-bye!!

From Hayabusa.org:

My father got a 2002 Road King about a month ago, and 2 weeks ago I went to a Harley dealer with him (on the Busa) so he could get a switch that was missing when he got it. As soon as we walked in a salesman comes over and says "So, are you ready to move up to a Harley ?" I smile, and say "No, thank you". Yesterday I went with him to another dealer looking for the same switch. Salesman comes out, and asks "So, how do you like that busa ?" I say "I LOVE it". He then says "hey, there's nothing wrong with starting out on something like that, you'll know when you're ready to move up, just get used to riding, we'll still be here". I had to laugh, and say "Move up to what? You have something that can take it ?" (Not that I'm a racer, but that's what came out) His response was "I guess you never heard of V-RODS".

HD theme song:

"BORN TO BE MILD"

Couldn't get my motor runnin'
Dead out on the highway!
Shoulda bought a Venture
Coulda saved a lot of hay!

Ape hangers got my shoulders crackin'
Put my back in a f*ckin' brace
Tried to start it with a can of ether
Explode in my face!

Well my black leather looks wild
But I walked, walked thirty miles
With a price so high, I
Can't afford to die!

Walked thirty miles...
Walked thirty miles....

I paid something frightening
Heavy metal blunder!
Now I'm racin' for the payments
And my credit has gone under!

Yeah darlin' that's the belt a-snappin'
To the world I'm a-losin' face
Fire all your loud pipes at once and
Explode in their face!

Well my true nature is mild
But I try, try to look wild
On the kind of bike I
Can't afford to ride...

Walked thirty miles...
Walked thirty miles...
