I ride the bike 4 days a week to and from work covering about 100kms a day... still cann't work out what the problem is.... any ideas? would be great full for any ideas.

I have heard that they need about 10-15 minutes to replace the charge from starting, so 100km every 4 days is heaps. I am only onto my second, my first lasted 8 years, with big 5 day a week rides to work of 200km. the one now sits in the shed on an intelligent trickle charger, and is only started every other month. It's still perfect after 3 years.
Unless you are in a really extreme climate, there must be something wrong. I'd take it to an auto elect. (at least if under 12 months they should allways replace under warranty)

Which brand battery,I buy the bikepower ones occasionally and none of them have enough acid supplied, after the battery settles from the first fill the tops of the plates are visible .shortens the life considerably if there not full enough..
also check the connections at the 3 pin alternator plug and the 6 pin regulator plug and look for signs of heat..

Hmmm... I was at Sydney City Motorcycles on Friday, asking that very question. The guy in the servicing dept. said that the Busa needs about an hour to fully recharge it's battery, so if you are doing relatively short, stop-start rides, that may explain why your batteries keep dying.
Go to Repco and get yourself a decent trickle charger. Plug your bike in each night and your battery should last a lot longer.
"casting dispersions on others credability." And their illiteracy.

cheers for the help,
the last battery i had in the bike was a powervolt YTX12A-BS... and thats the same as i just put in... cann't remember what the other ones were but i did change bike shop... tried to go to battery world but they told me that my bike was not in there catalouge so it didn't exist... they then told me to bring in the existing battery so they could replace it.... I did notice that once you fill battery with fluid supplied, it's not enough to cover. so have topped up and used trickle charge charger... are taking into a different bike shop this week to get them to look at it also. will keep you posted on the out come.

Subject is interesting my first battery K8 busa lasted 5 months approx. Battery was not dead just had reduced terminal voltage and reduced discharge AH. Bike used mostly for commute to work 70KM return. If bike is started hot after a refuel stop sometimes just starts like the battery is failing. With motor running charging volts 13.8 which is ok. If I do a long run don't notice the same problem for starting at a refuel stop. I was crappy the Yasha battery did not last and brought the cheapest battery on net and it is still in use.
Believe 35 km commute freeway city ride is not adequate to maintain good battery life. Have a good trickle charger and intended to set up for overnight charging but have not bothered as battery is managing.
I believe charging system is ok but need a good run with some revs to recharge battery and my work commute is marginal to replace starting power used. To have good battery life believe additional charging is necessary. Hope this make sense.

My '99 is doing the same thing and in the process of eliminating the problem. Done all the steps you've done and sent battery back a few times with them saying the battery is ok. Got this one a couple of weeks b4 the anniversary run but have had trouble since. Doing the same as the previous battery.
Our last ride out I had to jump start the bike at various stops on the ride where at other stops bike would start no prob's.
Andcad said he had the same problem with his Gen1 but said he threw his bike down the road b4 he could solve the problem.
For good batteries at a low price check out Challenge Batteries in Osborne Park. Though I got this battery through my brothers work. Was same as was in there previously.

the bike shop have tested the bike, the charge rate is ok and also the draw rate if fine... so at this stage the battery that lasted 3 weeks must of been a dud.

The shop check out for any shorts?...I presume they did but as the charge rate is good then it only leaves a couple of possibilties...either you are incredibly unlucky with batteries or there is an intermittant fault.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be home in time for breakfast
My 05 has gone through more batterys than fuel ever since i fitted a gpro tre. Tried various brands of battery and the latest one fitted is a motobat. Its just sat for 5 weeks with the battery disconnected and it still went flat ??
Ive given up on finding an answer so ive now got a trickle charger hooked up all the time, that seems to fix it...........
