Conspiracy theory ............. I reckon there is a secret unit out there doing just that; patrolling the straits and sinking anything that moves (government funded of course). They can't be everywhere, the ones that do get through are picked up by the navy.

sorry to say, i am over the whole thing

i dont believe they are legitimate refugees. also the queue jumping, emotional blackmail and whining put me off. ive stopped caring about riots, hunger strikes and bad behaviour in detention centres..now i just see it as a good reason not to let them out to cause trouble everywhere else. the amount of money spent dealing with them is starting to get on my nerves.

i grind my teeth when i hear anything like a senator hanson young bang on about the need to be humanitarian and share everything we have because we are so rich. she can share all her stuff, but leave me out of it. ive worked hard for mine. the guilt trip doogooders are giving me a pain in the head with the "all suffering people are good people" line.

ive swung a total 180 degrees in my attitude in the last 3 years on this issue.

I agree that racists are people as well......BUT DISEASED ONES that should be classified as vermin of society and dealt with accordingly cause if left untreated they will eradicate a couple of basic human fibers like compassion,acceptance.A civil wars start with words like "ethnic cleansing" that derive from racial tension and agitation(IE:Bosnia)!!!!!!!

Hey guys,

I wont go into it to much , but i worked in a detention centre from 2002-2007.
In my time working in this enviroment, i reckon only maybe 5% of the thousands that we processed were granted protection visas, and were given refugee status. The other 95% were deemed unlawfully in this country and processed accordingly . I remember a Sri lankan man that was refused a visa and sent home( Escorted all the way by staff) . 4 weeks later he returned to Australia, was caught, and returned to the detention centre in which i was working. I spoke to this man and asked how he got back so quickly, he stated that he just bought another fake passport, travelled back to indonesia, jumped into another boat and headed back. Its That EASY.

One thing i will make a point on, DO NOT believe anything in the media about detention centres. The newspapers etc get 99.99% of the information from detainees via phone calls, and they are very very good liars. I am not a racist in any sense, but just think, no one knows what these people have done before coming to our beautiful country, and the do gooders want them released straight away. Would you like a rapist, or a paedophile living next door ?? I know i wouldn't.

I did meet a few good people that were locked up in detention, only to see them sent home, and saw a lot of real a**holes released into the community. I know of a number that broke the law once released(some seriously) and have since been sent home.( what a waste of taxpayers money)

As for the many riots, fires, hungerstrikes, selfharm, violent protests etc etc, not once did the media care about the staff locked up in there to dealing with it all.
