So tomorrow will be the day I forget all the things I should remember, and then remember them 200 k's down the road on Tuesday.
Pastor - I will give you a call on Tuesday to see how you are going and if you are still able to head out for a bit if a ride.
More tomorrow I guess.............. Hi Champ, will expect a call. Still hoping I can free up most of the afternoon on Tuesday.
Cheers

Hey Champs, some scattered and isolated rain forecast where you will be riding in NSW, along with mostly cloudy overcast conditions. Better pack the wet weather gear.
Cheers

Thanks for the weather update Pastor. It looks about the same here but hoping I can dodge around the showers and stay in the sunny bits. I will give you a call mid-ish morning to see how things are going.
Heading off very shortly, once I figure how to put a jumper into my kit - bugger it!
Rod, Timmy, Heidi, etc and anyone else wanting to catch up..... Could you please text or leave a message on my phone 0438 292297 and I will get in touch along the way.
Missy - The Merino is because I am heading south and therefore perhaps moving through high Kiwi population areas. If things get scary as a result I can toss the Merino overboard and distract them while I make my get-away.
Hoping to take quite a lot of photos, but I suspect that is the initial thought of many on road trips. Maybe one of the clean and packed bike at the start and then see if there are any more at the end.
Time to get away from the keyboard and onto the handlebars!! Catch you along the way maybe!

I have FINALLY got some time off (hopefully in time to avoid any real wintery weather) and I am heading off on April 20.
Missy - I guess you have already done your run south?
Thanks M8EE for the route you suggested - I am doing it almost exactly on the way down.
My route will be:
BRISSIE, beadesert, Rathdowney, Woodenbong, Kyogle, Casino, Grafton, Nymboida ( AKA HEAVEN!!! ), Ebor, Armidale, Walcha, Wauchope, Glouchester, Stroud, Singleton, Lithgow, Bathurst, Cowra, Young, Coota, Junee, Gundagai, Tumut ( HEAVEN PART 2 ) Cooma, Bombala, Orbost, Sale, THE BIG RAT-HOLE THEY CALL MELBOURNE
(Wording provided by Shane - in case of complaints)
Anyone wanting to join in for a leg or two is more than welcome. Anyone with a spare bed along the way is even more welcome . It would be bloody great to meet up with any and all who might be available for a meal or a reason to rest along the way.
The Great Ocean Road I am told is a must "and don't come home without doing it" so while I am down there I will head that way for a look.
The run home is up in the air until later on, so suggestions are welcome. I haven't forgotten the other road suggestions to my original post.
So if you want an excuse to go for a bit of a ride - excuse provided. If you want to see the spectacle of a QLDer on a white Busa - spectacle available.
PM me if you want contact details to catch up along the way. Just don't want to put my mobile out in public, so give me a yell.
Scott i live on the bourder qld nsw i would like to rid some of it with you woodenbong to casno the drake range would be beter for that leg
how many need a bed at the bourder

Bypassed Bathurst to save time. Lithgow Oberon Golbourn!!! Now THAT is a he'll of a road. Open plateau sweepers and see to the horizon. Who knows the numbers that could be done up there! Cooks and beyond? today. How do you make slicing doing this? There must be a way.
Which one was it Missy? Putty road or Singleton Maccas? haha - or maybe both like me.....

Champs, if you are coming back through Raymond Terrace or the Hunter Valley, there is always room at our place for a stop over. It is a good starting point for the Buckett's Way and Thunderbolt's Way heading north.

Thanks Busgo, Heidi, Grant, Shane, and everyone else who offered hospitality and suggestions along the way. I will have to make note of all the people, places, and roads I was unfortunately not able to experience this time around and structure the next trip to include them. Next time I will be doing it 2 up which will make it even better but where to put the gear????
Yep - back up north now. Arrived back on Monday evening after a rescheduled b-line from Melb to Caloundra up the Newell and 23 hours on the bike over 33 hours. Had to get back quickly. If I had known I wouldn't have seen any interference along the way, some parts of that Newell could have been interesting rather than so long and straight and open.
Did Nymboida in rain and dark (thanks for the guide Grant), Ginger Creek in sunshine, Putty in sunshine, Bombala track in rain (110 k's of tight twisties when cold wet & slippery is an experience), GOR outwards in rain, GOR inwards in sunshine.
So I can't complain!! 5400 k's overall and about 400 k's of twisties in the rain. Next time those ones will be dry!!
Sorry Rod and Tim about the timing of the GOR but I don't think you would have liked the wet outlook at the time. Next time.
I have a few happy snaps that I will post up soon. Yes Missy I heard your voice in my head each time I saw something photoworthy, so I stopped a few times :)
