SO SO TRUE!!!

It allways seemed ludicrous to me when the NT had no speed limits, and yet time and time again had the lowest accident rate. (but also lowest number of vehicles)
I also found it disgusting that you could legally and safely travel at 160 on one side of the border, but just 100 metres down the road you would be booked, and charged for not only speeding, but dangerous driving! - on the same bloody road!!!

Look at how technology has changed over the years. How can an old car with drum brakes and razorblade tyres, driven by my grandmother doing a 100kmph be considered safe, when a new modern car doing 120 on a wide open freeway is deemed dangerous.

I've read a porsche can stop from 200kmph faster than a fitted out highway patrol commodore at 100kmph. And the porsche will do it all day whereas the commodores brakes will fade after a few goes.

The whole speed kills thing makes me VERY angry Knuppel2

but then . . . we all ride 'busas, so naturally none of us would ever consider going over the SPEED limit, so it's all abit accademic really.

Speed is not the problem- it's all the Drunk Drivers on the road that the Aussie Government makes heaps of BOOZE TAX off resulting in pissweak laws against drunk drivers like Bob Carr. Then, there is of course all the speeding fines that should have never been issued in the 1st place.

NOT GUILTY !!!

The moral of the story, always travel with a hand held GPS and camera to take photos and positions of those radar reflectors to get a proper tracking history for the court.
"Next time I'll get my engineering department !"
"Next time you can get the King Of England, I don't give a stuff, not guilty! "
"you be careful out there, we'll get you". Should I interpret that as a warning or a threat ?

There was exactly the same argument on another forum late last year.
Actual speed has nothing to do with it.

The problems are;
People that have no clue about the limitations of the vehicle they are operating.
People that have never been correctly taught how to drive
People that can't read the traffic or the road conditions, and then drive accordingly.
People that think they are indestructable

All of the above = people that can't drive

In SA we have the 'Creepers Kill' ads which are a lie and our government is wasting loads of money on such ads. Then they avoid the real work which is education and better roads.

Any idiot can see this ...... except politicians.

Correctly taught: Been riding bikes since 1973 & on the road since 1976, never needed teaching by some stupid RTA Instructor & never will.
Limitations: Unlimited pending on road conditions.
Nobody is indestructable when they get wiped out by a drunk driver.
Can't read the traffic; What, are you a mind reader of drunk drivers are you ???Wtf

Limitations are limited if they are dependant on road conditions.

Its not speed its idiots
I had the job the other day of controlling a road block at a main hwy intersection due to a very nasty accident on a main interstate road, the signs say road closed, detour. we started to counting how many would stop and ask for directions which is fair enough then how many wankers are out there, wankers is used because these smart car drivers are too stupid to use the side of the road to stop no these wanks were stopping on the main highway in front of trucks doing 100kpm when they were told to get of the fkn road they look blank and say why, best of all one got the shits up when a semi blew his horn and says there thats why they are the killers always in a hurry .Not that he stopped in the middle of the road looking dumb at the road block. any way the 12hr taley of wankers was cars with old farts driving 120out of 135 ,semi trailers 1 out of 122 motor bikes 0 out of 23, younger drivers 0 out of 98, so there it is younger people and us bad speeding bikers can read signs and use their brains and pullover on the sealed shoulder for directions. NO ITS NOT SPEED ITS THE SUDDEN STOP EVEN AT LOW SPEED YOUR BODY TURNS TO JELLY WITH IMPACT LET ALONE YOUR BRAIN BOUNCING IN YOUR SCONE.the goverments would rather have trees on the road edges killing people instead of clearing them to make it safe because green groups have the balance of pollitical power. in the country are the number 1 killers and they dont move.

Its not speed that kills, like most have mentioned, but a sudden change in speed does kill, eg speeding up really fast, or slowing down really fast. It is just the case that on the roads it's "rapid deceleration that kills". But that doesn't have the same ring to it!
