Got it back from the mechanic yesterday with a clean bill of health.

Looks pretty clean, but still heaps to do cosmetically.
Brakes are WOEFUL!!, suspension OMFG!! want to replace pipes and add original style crash bars.

But definitely an imposing beast coming up the road.

(looks good in the shed next to the busa too)

FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC! What a beast. Apart from the suspension and the brakes, does it pull like a train?

Fantastic bike mate, the sound at redline is just beautiful music on those things.

I have been looking for a while but all seem to want silly prices.

It seems to have gained a small fan by the looks of that cheeky grin.

Congrats

Train! Lol3 Think "Thomas !"
They were quoted as 11.5 sec 1/4 mile, and I remember in the 80's mine was awesome.(even standard)
Today . . .
I'd definitely put it above a new GS500 in straight line go, and a bit more revvy.
But not into GSXR600 territory - mind you, it probably weighs 3 times as much.

& the pipes aren't the best, different mufflers welded on, look the same but are different internals on each side. Some rust and holes appearing. Probably not helping the situation. New pipes are next.

Bruce - unusual for me but I haven't hit redline on it yet. But I do remember that they don't so much HIT, as just go thru and wind off the tacho. - remember those days before computers? (redline 9.5 tacho ends at 11.5 - my old ones always pulled to the end of the tacho no worries - I must be gettin conservative in me old age.)

-And the model, Caitlyn's not happy with the new laws. She wont be 8 till next year. She'll just have to settle with her memories of riding around town on the 'busa. (she prefers it anyway, so she has taste)

Sweet bike!!

The CBX was never renowned for their suspension or handling, the frame twists a wee bit from what I've heard. But still, what a beast!!

There was a guy in Vic who built an awesome one for racing, was in Rapid last year. Maybe a read of what he did to make it sweet handling might help ya.
I used to work with a guy who rode his CBX everyday, was a member of the owners club, swore by his.

A WEE BITLol3Lol3 OMG. I've ridden softails tighter than this thing. Rode it into Albury yesterday, heaps of fun, but still looking for the hinge in the middle. A WEE BIT Lol2- now that is an understatement!
I suppose it's gettin' on for 30 years old, and a bit cruel when all you've to compare it to is the 'busa. (still - it's 10 year old now! -11 next month)
Get's heaps more looks though. even in this part of the world. Must have been 500 bikes through Tallangatta yesterday. I forgot how hot an air cooled bike feels in this stinking bloody hot weather, especially with your legs behind that wide motor.

No matter, still a brilliant looking bike. I remember them racing around the old Sydney tracks, didin't ahndle particularly well but hell they were fast in a straight line.
Good weather, good woman, good road, good bike, good-bye!!

Finally got original crash bars for the six. It's looking and running sweet now. Took both bikes for a kill yesterday. I've joined the CBX club and will put "club vintage plates" on it asap. Had some guys stay the other night on the way to the VJMC rally. I was jealous.

It's funny to read the blurb of others with CBXs - some say they're comparable to modern bikes.

Riding one after the other is just insane, the busa is from another universe!! Scary
The CBX is a beautiful bike to ride, I will really enjoy owning it, but it sure ain't a 'busa. - Feels like when you were a kid slipping on an old pair of your Dad's slippers, comfy, gave you a fuzzy feeling, but were sloppy and you slipped all over the place and couldn't walk very fast for fear of coming out of them.

- now back into therapy for me.

If you're ever down this way, feel free to take it for a fang - after all, that's what it's all about!

Had a BIG box arrive the other day.
Those Yanks know how to use bubble wrap.
6ft x 2ft x 3ft. all for a set of genuine honda 6into2 original pipes.
$600 just for the freight. Scary

but she's all but finished now.

Got myself a T-shirt form the CBX club.

the logo sayes "Best motorcycle ever"

I'm gonna wear it with pride . . . . once I add . ."till god made the Hayabusa"

and then wear it to a cbx club ride!

Congrats

ran her out to redline the other day. It was screaming, and did sound awesome!!!
200 is BLOODY fast - wound right out, and hanging on for dear life!!
(the busa at 300 was a dodle in comparison)

Thanks for the comments Bruce. Especially coming from a man with a full stable of unique custom "toys" - as well as your others, both your 'busas must be awesome to ride - and I hope one day I might be in position to maybe "con you into a wee spin on one!" Coolsmiley - just how may bourbons would it take???

cheers Max, she's back in at the mechanics again for a bit more 'tweaking'. Just not totally happy with bottom end performance, my mechanic thinks she's sucking air where it shouldn't, and having trouble starting from cold. ONce done, I think a road trip is order. I'll just have to wait till December when I get a day off.
