New members posting bullshit
#1
WTF is going on lately? Am I having a crazy dream or are we being bombarded with farkwits becoming members and posting lots of random garbage. I don't need to suggest which users I'm referring to. Their posts have exceptionally bad english (intentionally?) and are usually way off topic. Check out their profile and they've filled in most fields by random keystrokes. I suspect some have more than one account (same signatures).

I guess the admins are carefully filtering out the bad eggs, as I noticed one recent new member has been banned. Do other 'normal' members find the recent crazy contributions entertaining, or should bogus users be banned sooner and their posts deleted? I personally think these posts could be called 'forum graffiti' and should be wiped off. You don't need to become a member to view threads, so why bother joining unless you're intending to make a worthwhile contribution? If it's obvious that you've joined the AHC to amuse yourself by posting shite, then maybe you need to have your right to post revoked, temporarily or permanently?Knuppel2

The admins have noticed it too. We've been checking IP addresses of each of the new ones to check they aren't all from the same source, any that are are immediately banned. Some of them have links in their sigs that are immediately deleted. The ones that aren't, I've started sending a PM asking them to fill in their details properly or be deleted.

We haven't come to a decision on what to do with them straight up. The main problem is that we get international members signing up that can have pretty dodgy English, but want to be proper members. We don't want to jump on these new ones straight away just in case we accidentally delete a new member.

We are working on this issue now, as it has only really been a problem in the last few weeks. Prior to this, spammers were dead easy to pick, either they are getting smarter, or it is 'forum graffitti'.

We are trying.

The guy u are referring to has the same signature on at least two posts in two different threads, totally off topic. RAT's had a similar problem about 6-12months ago. Knuppel2

Right oh. I might have a chat to the RATS admins and see what they did, they might give us some new ideas.

People like that dont care where they post and who they are posting too. Since what happened to Mark, I have joined a forum that have women and men in my situation. There are people who come in and post the most rude and incomprehensible stuff and dont care that we are all grieving the loss of our loved ones.

I too have noticed some stupid posts on here and they are just pests who like to have their juvenile fun at the expense of others.

Get rid of the rubbish as I only know too well the wonderful people on here do not deserve the crap that they post.

I agree minimum post count to start a thread in the classifieds. Maybe if vendors wanna come on offer us some gear for sale then a simple message to the admins to allow the vendor to post in the vendors section. 20 post might be a bit high but I'd say at. Least 10 post before starting threads in classifieds is allowed
Regards

We are getting a lot more strict with these people, it seems to be a trend. If you look you'll see a lot of them have been banned in the last few days.
