Hi guys

I have just joined the forum for a look around.

My situation is I am currently the owner of a Blackbird. As of Monday morning on my way to work, I had a nice gent decide to cut me off (in a Volvo) on Old Windsor Rd at Winston Hill on Sydney. Bike went down both are damaged. I am enjoying a week off work with a really sore shoulder and a few grazes.

Thats life and I crap happens. The worst part is my wife who is on her L's pulled the pin on Monday afternoon and wants me to sell her bike as she is to rocked by this to ride.

My Bird was taken away yesterday and I am really hoping it will be a write off. I hope to hear something today.

Anyways after riding a few different bikes over the past couple of years. I really feel the only upgrade from my Blackbird would be the Hayabusa. I love the Blackbird as I think they are great all round bike and think the Busa would be the same deal with a little extra.

I have joined the forum as I am looking to learn as much about the Busa so I know what to look for from a prospective future bike.

Other than that

My name is Mark, coming up for 40. Married with 2 kids, 4 cats, currently 2 bikes, 4 Fords including a XR6 turbo, XY GS and a 66 Mustang.

I am a shift worker in the Telecommunications industry and a part time fire fighter with the RFS.

I live up in the hills of North Western Sydney, west of Richmond and 5 minutes from the Bells line of Rd.

I love beer, and bourbons and I am a die hard Parramatta Eels fan.

Cheers

Hi Ya Mark and Welcome on board mate,

Glad you are OK after the off - can be a bit scary.

Blackbirds are great bikes, certainly very refined. A mate of mine who I used to go riding with had one, and we'd often swap bikes. After spending a fair bit of time on both - I have to give it to the Busa (Gen 1) for handling, grunt and for me, looks, so if you are thinking Gen 2 - well crap, I would guess it would be a hands down decision.

anyway enjoy your stay - this place is a little crazy at times, but always good for a laugh, not to mention a wonderful resource of info and mateship

See you

Welcome to the club.

Sorry to hear about your mishap with a Volo, but glad to hear that you are reasonably ok. At least the weather has been ok to recuperate in.

From a pillions point of view, the Busa is a great bike....built for comfort and speed.

This forum will tell you just about everything you need to know about owning, maintaining, tweeking and blinging your Busa.

Try not to let your wife give up riding, or she will end up regretting it. The best thing that she can do is get back on the bike and ride in some quiet streets until she regains her confidence.

Welcome to the club and forum Mark.

Your bio seems to pan out to be just about the average busa rider, so you might as well bite the bullet and get one.
Lol3

Yeah mate if you can keep the other half interested in riding, do it.

Hope to see you back Biker soon.

Welcome,

That's crap to hear about your bike, spuddie volvo driver! grrr.

To your lovely wife... no please don't let that put you off. Don't make hasty decisions. Go for some advanced rider lessons and the like... just no hasty decisions.

Cheers!

Thanks for the nice welcomes guys. You can really feel the love in some of the posts. Showback

Got some news back on my bike. $4000 worth of damage and it touch and go if they are going to write it off. I am going to call my insurance company today and voice my concerns about the damage done to the fairing mount on the frame and how it was damaged and needed to be replaced. To me it is frame damage and a good enough reason to write off the bike. I am not sure how my company will go with this as it is the other insurance company that will be paying for this and it should not effect my insurance.

I am also going to mention my Chris Vermuelen Shoei helmet is buggered as is my jacket and how the other insurance company should be paying for this as well. Last time my Troy Bayliss Suomy was buggered, so that is 2 helmets in 6 months.

In regards to my wife she has not had her heart into riding for a few months now and I think this was the straw that broke the camels back. Not to sound selfish and I am sure this is, but if she is not confident on the road on a bike, then maybe this is the best thing for her. It is a totally different world as you all know and not a place for the faint hearted.

Thanks again guys and I will let you know what happens, but I have been looking at bikepoint, etc and my heart is really set on a new bike and I want a Busa.

Cheers
Mark
