B-King engine difference from a Gen 2 engine?
#1
Hey, just wanting to be explained the exact engine tune difference between the standard B-King engine and the standard Gen 2 Busa engine.

I was told at the Suzuki stand at the Island that his tech blokes says that its just the exhaust which detunes it but I'm lead to believe it's cams etc also.

Also Peter Stevens tells me that the sprockets sizes are the same for both the B-King and Gen 2 Busa, if this is the case how is the B-king suppose to be better at accelerating to about 180kmh than the Gen 2 Busa and how is the B-King limited to a top speed of 150 mph?

Thanks

Air box, velocity stacks, exhaust. The b king is longer and heavier so can accelerate harder before it wheelies.

The motor is the same motor as 08/09 busa Ant no difference in spec's or parts.
The tune is different in the computer even after changing the Bking exhaust & doing mod's the bking still had less power & a different
map on the dyno than the busa.

So if I change the air box (or just do the air box mod), velocity stacks, exhaust and put a power commander on the B-King and get it re-mapped it will be the same horsepower and top speed as the Gen 2 other than the aerodynamic difference?

Would I use the same power commander as for a Gen 2 busa for a B-King?

Will my Yoshi full system on my Gen 1 fit on to the B-King?

The reason why I ask this is because I have a couple of injuries which an upright handle barred bike really suits me now and I was looking at the B-King but modified eventually.

gen2 motor casing doesn,t have the eyelet for the centre stand and one for the belly wing in its casting so has more room under it for an exhaust.pc,s are the same as far as i know.Your pipe will fit around the motor, not sure if the plastics need trimmimg. No sure if the airbox size is the same.

Dont think the BKing with the mods ant will match the busa
Pete did a mate of mines witht the yoshi box ( fuel only) & it improved but wasnt anywhere near the busa. The curves arent the same in there power delivery. The power curve isnt changed with the pc .if you changed the factory computer over it would be closer.

If you have had an injury good luck with hanging on at full throttle anyway
Id still love to own 1 but there resale was a concern for me which as of last week there was 3 for sale in the shops up here
4000 Ks $14K
5000K $14k
8000k 13K

The B-King does not have ram air like the Busa, I suspect this is where a bit of power is lost.

+1 on the engine lump being the same as a Busa though.

Great bike tho, who cares about a few hp, overall you wouldnt notice, I felt it was smoother and better fuelled than the Busa.

I dont know who started this faster than a Busa (Gen2) to 180kmh business, but I've yet to see any proof.

For the record (or maybe off it) our stock Gen 1 Busa spanked it in ...er ..closed road testing..from a standing start, including rider swaps.
Despite its wheelbase, the B-King is a very hard bike to launch when stock. 10kg of muffler high in the tail combined with the BTL lock up makes it so.

What a truly great motorcycle it is though. Smitten

The B-K has a exhaust valve like the gsxr's that may change its power compared to the busa, also the secondary throttle controll may be set differently.
also lower speed limiter setting,

just waiting for the finished version of the ecu editor for 08, very good chance it will let you load the busa ecu definition into the b-k

I ran almost identical 10.3's on my Mk1 Busa and my B-King,
Busa showed 159 on the dyno, B-King showed 163.

Who cares !!!

Dont ask about a few horsepower, ask if you can live with a 16ltr tank,
no underseat storage, ugly tank and pipes, poor resale, and useless pillion seat,
(no grab rail, high up, badywork stop's them gripping with their legs)

Busa is better looking, more practical, has a few more pony's,
B-King is Ugly and a F@ckin' scream to hoon about on.
Some great 2nd hand buys about.

I LOVE MINE.
Top bike.

I spoke to Phil Tainton today and he suggests that the gearbox gears maybe a different ratio from th Gen 2 Busa

What makes him say that ?
I cant find anything that lists them as being different.

Everything I own / read has them both as being...
1st 2.615 (34/13),
2nd 1.937 (31/16),
3th 1.526 (29/19),
4th 1.285 (27/21),
5th 1.136 (25/22),
6th 1.043 (24/23).

Final drive as 2.388 (43/18)

If what i have found is wrong, please correct me,
im keen to know for my own use too.

On the B-K topic..............

We ran 2 B-Kings on the same Dyno back to back.
One totaly stock,
One with Yoshi can's but no other mod's,
Both had a good A/F ratio and neither needed a re-map.
Both still had the CAT and Exup valve,
Stock bike made 1 bhp MORE than the Yoshi bike.

stuck my old ET on whilst we were there,
nice grunty midrange then went rich off the scale and choked itself,
O-well, can only get better.....

Same part numbers for gears both drive and driven in both bikes.
