Should know more about whats happening this year after tomorrow , But the landrights stuff will not be finalised till closer to the event..
You want fairly hard tires, touring more than full sports soft ones overheat easier and can chunk,
Double check the speed rating..
groove shape seems to make a difference, something that has no crossing of the tread grooves seems to last better, where the grooves cross there is a less supported piece of rubber that is dragged into the gap and released as the tire rotates causing localised overheating and chunking
I used these to 220mph in the US http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tirecata...asp?id=101 and previously used 208's
Good examples here http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front/...44&lang=EN
the Sport is very much the wrong shape, though not as bad as the anakee would be , Power is a good shape but probably too soft , road may be a good option if this is your preferred brand.
How you ride will also determine tire life, full throttle constant hard wheelspinning is not good, some wheel slip is unavoidable , there is a sweet spot where you maximise drive .

I've got no experience in the salt fields but I would think from Maj's comments that a pair of SHINKO's may be the go.
They are speed rated, flat profile and have little tread grooving. Maybe that's why the sydney drag community like them so much.

i have a shinko 005 on the rear now and there only rated at 270kph so its not worth the risk

Yes you need good hard round ones :) - check out this site blog he has some good advice:

Also Brock Davidson (Brocks) has some good advice too - he is a great guy and happy to respond to emails - I have had plenty of good advice and chats with him over the last year about the Busa and speed

Didn't know he shinkos were only rated to 270.
Have to scrub them off the list of potentials then.

9-13 march, http://www.dlra.org.au/2009.htm
I usualy get there on the 7th and setup camp and pits, 8th will be scruitineering, and track setup, racing starts 9th and runs till about 11am on the 13th , then start packing up..
if its a little windy there will be speed limits , lots windy will stop racing.
