Sydney Motorcycle Show Poll

Hi there,

Since a fair few of us went to the Sydney Motorcycle Show this year I thought I would gauge opinion on the show. I think the show was a bit smaller than last year, but there were a few things that I liked. I also purchased something at the show for the first time (not a motorcycle - damn)

So whaddayathink? Pi_thumbsup or Pi_thumbsdown

I got to see the New GSX-R 1000 what a bike
Copper GSX-R 1000 and BUSA
Single sided front wheel Bi mota , doubt it will see the road but some great engineering
Drooled over the Y2K , where else do you see one?
MV Augustas love them
Sat on and liked the DB8 Ktm like it but not my cup of tea.
ZX14 like what theyve done to the Foreman grill
Ducati motards are evil and would have a ball playing with
Caught up with some Busa buddies that i havent seen for too long.
I had a great few hours

+1 what Loafie says.

I reckon that they could do a lot better with the area allocated for the stunts etc.
Only the very few who get next to the fence can actually see anything.
With all those showground arenas available they could do a real show spectacular with a bit of speedway or MX or the likes.
A couple of stunters going back and forward in a 25m straight is pretty lame even if the guys are very highly skilled.

That new ZX14 scheme is a spew colour IMO.
The K9 GSX1000R looks FARKEN FANTASTIC.
Interesting to see that they have made the new OEM pipes for it to copy the MICRON GP pipes that you can get for the busa.

Honda's new sports/cruiser/scooter is very interesting and futuristic.
Petty that it looks like a shark and they show them in Red or Black and not Grey!
One of those suckers is just begging to be painted up in grey and white with teeth all round the mouth.
"If time catches up with you. You're going too slow!"

Being a post whore hereVery Happy

I liked the new Hayabusa, I think it would look awesome in the sunlight, as would the GSXR1000. I also liked the paint scheme on the ZX14 Retro Toaster, but it may be too little too late.

We spent some time looking at the tourers, ST1300 was ok, FJR seat was like the busa and no clutch handle.....disturbing. My pick of the tourers was the K1200GT, which are being reduced in price to march them out the door before the K1300 series comes in. I also sat on the K1200S which was also nice.

Kathy sat on a few bikes, having the front wheel chocked was great for her as bikes she would otherwise never sit on she was able to try out. She wanted to sit on a cruiser, just to see what it was all about, but got off it fairly quickly all the same, as it was uncomfortable for her.

We noticed that the GSX650F was being released in a learner legal version (god knows what power that would be, std is 85hp). The model number you will love - GSX650FUK9. The SV650S was the same, but it was a SV650SUK9. So if you like a SUK or a f*** they are available...Lol3 I would not buy one though, once you have your full license it's cheaper to flick it than derestrict it as you need to change ECU etc etc.....

Didnt really look at the Dudcatis. The air cooled ones are slow, the water cooled ones are expensive, and everything had a sign saying, dont plonk your arse on me. If it cant handle it.....dont bring it into the show.

There was little in the way of aftermarket accessories. I got an intercom, but we have been hunting for an exhaust system equivalent to the little micron for the 650F but there was nobody to look at. The draggin shorts Lol3 stand was getting a flogging. Stayed away from Hardly Movingson and the Buell's, even as a sportsbike, I think there is a major issue with 1500cc jumping around in the frame to produce 50hp.

In summing, I think the show was down on exhibitors, due to Australia's recession (cmon lets admit it and move on) and that was a shame. It was busier when we left, but we started at 10am and that was the best time to hit the show in our opninion, there were half the number of people at 10am than there were at midday.

See you all there next year.

I rode one on the Snowy Ride, I think they will be popular around Vaucluse - Toorak but nowhere else. The test ride was spirited, from Thredbo to the Ski tube and back. It cornered ok, even though it was long, ground clearance was ok, but when I got back I was sore in the legs, arms, back etc. And if you are tall you cant see half the dash. For those who have not seen one up close, it is a 700cc V Twin automatic with automatic transmission and tiptronic. Thing even has a park brake. I can imagine it sitting in some blokes driveway next to a Landkluger or Lexus, and that's about it.

It's funny putting a motorbike into DriveIdiot2

we went today , weather wasn't good so a few outside events were cancelled.

We seen a stunt rider on a triumph speed triple do a endo that went wrong , bang ,crash , straight over the bars and crunch. Nasty piece of work, rider got up sore.

I noticed that the harleys and the cam an's were able to be test ridden, but not the other brands ?

The gold black busa looked very sweet , the zx-14 looked even better the way they painted it imo.

The food was pricy $10 for a sausage and roll with coleslaw.

There was a white busa with a cool looking dog on the tank.

I thought there would be more exhibitors / and entertainment on display .

Cost me 17 bucks to get in,bought an airhawk seat for 10 bucks off retail and got my earls filled with putty for 10 bucks less,so i came out 3 bucks ahead and i got to see a few bikes an babes.I also like the ktm sportsbike,it looks a bit angular but fitted me like a glove,i could ride that thing fast real easy.I had a chat with gilesy, and jeff ware as well as pappy from rapid.Apparently mick withers binned a 600 on a road test and is pretty busted up in hospital.I also indulged my fantasy of seeing motorbikes and friendly females both at the same venue, not the norm in my household.Overall the main complaint would be to have more food venues, more places to sit down for 5 minutes, and i probably wouldn,t spend 60 bucks on ear plugs again. When they fit you up and your waiting for them to set your thinking these things are fantastic, then you come back after an hr or so after theyve been coated and buffed and dried and you fit them after you,ve already paid an hr ago your thinking these things are no quieter than $2 ear plugs.Lesson learned.

Too many friggin scooters you can see where the world of bikes are going. I have seen most of the bikes already from going to the MotoGP so there were no real surprises in fact I thought it was a poor show really and proly wont go to the next one as I am planning to go to Milan nad see a real show. Girl bought some gloves which was prolly teh only thing worth while - the putty was a rip off - you can buy it online for $40 delivered and do it yourself and do just a good job (if you have a girl who is skilled of course ..... prolly leaves a lot of you out ahhh ah a ha ha ha ha) only bike I am thinking about buying now is teh 1198 when it arrives in Jan only cos I have never had one
Egos; everyone got one
