Hi there,
Have just got home from the Honda Snowy ride, minus the bike, but that's only part of the story. Also ran into Garbo down there, who has the other part of the story. Needless to say it's the ducks guts.
I was riding into Thredbo from the Jindy end yesterday afternoon, when I noticed that the panel was dead, with the needles not registering anything. Thought it was strange, but figured bike was still running so continued on. Then it started cutting out, until it died. I tried to restart the bike - dead as a doornail.
Cutting a long story short, Kathy was on the side of the road in gale force winds with nobody stopping to see if she was ok, while I got a lift back into Thredbo on the back of a blokes VFR to get help. Came back with the mobile mechanic who said that it wasnt charging (NO SHIT!!!) but to find this out it cost me $100 and I did all the work.
Charged the battery for 5 minutes, rode it back to Thredbo where it died again in front of the servo. Then I put the battery on a charger all night, grabbed the bike this morning, and put it into secure storage. Needless to say we are going to Thredbo again next weekend with the trailer to pick up the bike.
I spoke with Max on the phone, appreciate your help and support mate, that's what motorcycling is all about.
We got home, with two mates who owned Goldwings. Needless to say from a pillion point of view they are not that great, we now know why we own a busa. However hats off to them, alternative was hitchhiking.
I'll wait for Garbo to post his story, needless to say K8 + Headlight + broken nose cone = 1 dead duck!!! Garbo rode home on a Quacka

Nope, 2000 is this Millenuim mate. Your old 99er was only Y1.9K compliant, which is why you had to let it go.
Garbo can also tell you about a certain crow that only shits on quality bikes!!!

Hi Crumpy,
Yep, that was me, I had just come back with the cavalry. I saw a red black in Jindy too, we were having a break in Jindy before we went through to Thredbo.
We were overtaken by a Harley on the straight a few hundred metres before a corner. I saw him tip in, the wallowing start, and I went through under him two up with luggage. I never saw him again
Hi There,
It was good to run into a few people from the club at the Honda Snowy Ride. However it would be good to run into a lot more people from the club on the Snowy ride. Suzuki are a sponsor this year so it would be beneficial to show up in strength.
If you are contemplating doing a Snowy Ride, the best places to stay are Thredbo and Jindy. Thredbo is where the action is, but is also harder to get accomodation. We booked on the Friday for next year in Thredbo. Jindabyne is further away, but is a lot cheaper. There are a few B&B deals in both places, and they are worthwhile.
For me this is a good charity, motorcycles are always welcomed to the area. It would be good if we could coordinate a bit better between the Snowy ride (7th November 2009) and the club bash.
Just my 0.02c, the ride is trying to get 5000 bikes, we could all help. This year was 2984 registered bikes. For more info, go to www.snowyride.com.au
Take 100hp out of my busa and i might go.

G'day boys & girls, arrived home mid arvo today via brown mount, wollongong, cronulla, newcastle.
Had four awesome days riding some great roads with a few not travelled before. Don't miss it next year, it's a real hoot.
I have to agree with Graham, if the busa run was not so close to the snowy ride I'd be there as well. The snowy ride is a tradition for me and my mates. The journey there and back is as good ,no, better than the party there.
So now to the ducks misfortune....
Left Jindy, taste of the first beer in my mind, passed a big bunch of bikes coming up the hill towards Thredbo, cruising along with nobody in sight. Coming down a hill with my mates tailight not too far ahead when two quakkas take off out of the grass just ahead, momentarily backed off to make sure they were no problem, back on the gas and fffuk a sleeper emerges, I ddduck me lid as far as me tankbag will allow and the sucker swerves midflight and boom, buries himself in the headlight. Man the last thing going through his mind was his asshole. My lid was covered in blood and stuff instantly and the remains slid up the screen and onto my chest where I bid it farewell with a swipe of my glove. I was amazed I was ok, the bike was still where it should be and nobody else was around. When I stood on the pegs to check the damage I was amazed. Once at Thredbo It sunk in at how easy it would have been for the sucker to take my head off.
Anyway that beer tasted goood.
Cheers garbo

Had a call from Daffy.
Looking for some of his bits.
Anyone seen em?

He also has an opinion of Orange and Black busa riders.

A new sign will be posted near Jindy by the end of the month as well.

(Sorry Garbo, I know that you will see the lighter side of this).
Hope the bike is insured mate.

I'm sure it is great fun, but for me there are too many weekend warriors who just don't know how to ride.
