BUSGO Wrote:Front ones are smaller but thicker Ray - and better calipers.

They can be twice the thickness busgo ,but if the content is not a good mix of the s/steel then makes no difference. Why do think they dont put ohlins straight on the busa?? i know $$$$ ..Maybe the rear brake are bigger and better,,but Harleys have got big rear brakes also. I think people who believe the spin Suzuki dished out on the new Hayabusa need to have a serious session with Pan . U would need a Gen 4 or 5 to get to the standard i have in braking and suspension set up on my 03. the motor is another matter.

@ Blackzook. Take your K8 for a good long ride Bruce, then tell me it is not much better than a GEN 1.
I loved my Gen 1 bike and have accepted that the GEN II is much better than it in every aspect.
Your Gen 1 is a long way from being a stock road bike and hasn't been for a long time.
Of course good expensive aftermarket gear is better than the factory items.
How in the world would they ever sell the stuff if it wasn't?
@ Ray, My stock front rotors on the GEN 1 bike did over 120,000 ks with no wear or warping.
Gotta be happy with that. Also handled every emergency braking incident without fail.
I'm sure that a nice pair of lighter, cast iron rotors would be better but they are not necessary.

busgo either the Gen 2. as the gen1 was a fine bike and did all u need ,but hey its a choice of the individual.
Lift the front of the bike and see if the front wheel spins freely, then press the brake a few times and see if there is drag when you release the lever pressure. If there is ,check if the calipers or M/Cylinder are sticking slightly.Another thing ,make sure the fluid level in the M/Cylinder is'nt overfilled, if it is , when the fluid heats up as you use the brakes, it can expand to or above the maximum fluid volume of the M/Cylinder and cause a slight pressure build up in the system.

You only need to make them better if you are a track day specialist.
Unfortunately Ray (Busgo) I suggest that you are talking through your arsehole. I've ridden both the K8 Busa and the ZX14 and guess what? The Kawasaki has excellent brakes, you should try them. The K8 Busa still has, even though they've gone radial, wooden feeling brakes. FFS If Kawasak can do decent brakes why can't blasted Suzuki?
Keep selling your Braketech systems Ray (The other much taller one) We Suzuki riders are going to keep needing them.

Gee Max its about time u updated to the ceramic rotors mate..
U will save nearly 2 kgs off the front wheel and ,well uno how they work.
must be a common thing accrosss the suzuki range, my stock k8 1000 brakes were total puss too.......
i just rode the k8 busa demo at action last week, me and woody were race testing the new busa and blade. i thought the brakes on my k8 gixxer were bad, the standard k8 busa brakes are absolute poo, i rekon u might be in for some brake sales from k8 busa owners ray......

i just had my front rotors, pads and fluid done on my bike under warranty, well last week anyway. lever still feels like shit, havent got them hot yet as dealer has requested that i bed them in slowly???? my 91 gsxr 1100 always had genuine pads and rotors, never got hot and got absolutley flogged. same as my 81 gsx 1100
Once you,ve had aftermarket brakes you are forever poisoned with expecting nothing less.No matter what a manufacturer comes up with its always built to a price first and performance second.Awesome brakes can be enjoyed at any speed like light wheels it just boils down to what floats your boat about riding, everyones different so not everyone wants different from standard.
