A smart TRE or a standard TRE don't have any setting up.
You just plug into line with the tripple white plug under the left side of the tank and away you go. The GiPro needs to be set up but I can't help you with that, I think the instructions come with it though and it is only a small job.

It was the Gipro I put on mine. Real easy to setup, just a matter of pressing a button and cycling through til you get the prefferred setting. Takes seconds. Me like a dork thought it did it on its own. Instructions were really clear when I bothered to read em
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-HAYAB...0231306102 This is the one I bought cost $209 inc shipping from USA. Seemed like a cool dude to deal with, kept me updated etc on when it was sent Dont know if it applies to K8s or not but the standard TRE can affect the idling, I thinl it over fuels due to the fact that the TRE tells the ECU that its in 5th all the time. SMART TRE switches off in Neutral as does the Gipro and that alleviates the lumpy idle as it goes back to its standard setting

my opinion for all Gen 1's the GI Pro/Atre is the way to go, with gear indicator as gen1's dont have. if your GPS has never been touched no reason why it wouldnt work straight away with plug and play.

I just installed a TRE on my 99', runs nice but F1 light stays on and F1 also flashes alternately with the time. Got any ideas on how to fix this?

I think you may have plugged into the wrong plug Phil.
It should be the plug on the left leg side of the bike under the tank. One lead comes up from the gear pedal area and the other from the wiring loom near the airbox.

BUSGO Wrote:I think you may have plugged into the wrong plug Phil. Thanks Busgo, the one coming from the gear peddle is that the one I'm looking for? That one on my bike has a 4 prong plug but the TRE I have is only a 3 Pronga. Is the one I'm supposed to have a 4 pronga or a 3 pronga?
