If you want to be able to use the a/f meter to its fullest potential e.g. Changing fuel maps, you really need to have the data logging facility. The guage is ok but honestly I have taken mine off now as it is a bit hard to keep an eye on it when you are giving it the berries. At the most I would recomend a warning light output if the condition gets too lean otherwise data log it and analyse it later on a computer.
Better to look at the data in text form, the wideband commander comes with a pretty rolling graph but it does not help at all if are trying to remap the fuel. The wideband can export the data out to an excel spreadsheet where it can be manipulated and grouped to average your results by rpm and throttle position then make your fuel map changes based on the average. That has worked well for me.
See attached image, I got my previous bike 2003 R1 running beatifully on 12.8 A/F ratio for the 1/4 mile. The lean spikes are the quick shifter. I dropped about 2 tenths off my time by gettting the A/F right.

I'm using the techedge, only prob is i have the 2co box that doesn't log enough inputs, and ended up buying a Innovate DL-32 for greater logging capacity.
Those PLX devices sure do offer a comprehensive range of capability when daisy chained....prob more versatile than the Innovate

i want the a/f for two reasons. firstly id like a gauge o the bike so i cant see hw the ratio varie with throttle and load while im riding so i can see how it affects performance etc.and secondly id like to see about tuning the three different maps on my bike for 3 different sitautions rather than just full power, part power and even less than part power as the bike is now

You can get a cheap narrow band that reads the std sensor ,~$25 from jaycar , or various gauges on ebay.
i,ve fitted one to log and analyse purely for the drags and on/off throttle tuneability.
