Yeah yeah yeah, They are still a poof bike!EgyptianEgyptianEgyptian

The will never have a bike that does 300+kph stock! And that was 8 years ago for the Busa.

There is nothing poofy about the ZX14. I own one. I traded my 03 Busa on it.
It is a better bike than the 03 Busa. It goes as well, handles better and brakes better. It is let down by an appalling gearbox which crashes ointo 1st 2nd and 3rd and fairing locators that break at the drop of a hat and Kawasaki will not warranty the problem. I used to own a ZZR 1100 which had a better gearbox than the ZX14. It only crashed into 1st and 2nd gear.
It is not, however, a better bike than the 08 Busa. I rode Tom Ruxtons 08 and it is a dam fine bike. A very slick gearbox and everything else at least as good as the ZX and in mosy cases better.
I am very seriously considering purchasing a new Busa.
You would be very foolish to think the ZX is an inferior bike in terms of performance. It goes bloody well. It is all down to the rider. Watch out if you take on a ZX rider who knows what he is doing.

getting all defensive chopper?
hahahah
nah he's right- the better rider will usually use his machine to his advantage. If i had to choose between riding a zx14 or not riding at all..... but hey i don't have to make that choice cause i'm happy with my 05

Yeah yeah yeah I didn't say "poofy" I said Poof bike, I hate the damned things, all top end and no bottom, mind you they are supposed to be improving the bottom end with the '08. I was helping Copperjess remove the first butterflies from his and the plastic is already breaking and falling apart, less than 500kays on the damned thing. I was embarrassed for him. I had just spent 20 minutes hammering away, jocularly of course, he's a nice kid, at the poor build quality, and as we're putting it back together there are rubbers that hold nuts in place for the shiny black cowling that sits between the tank and the steering head, that have torn rubbers, thus not allowing the bolts that hold the cowling in place to be tightened.

The original Hiroshima screamer flat out lots of power - then bits start falling off. As I said Poof bike. Falls apart in a cloud of failing components Poof! The sound a pillow makes when you hit it with a full load of sgs.

Not like homosexuals Poof, it's against the law to say sh#t about those poofs!Lol2RollLol2

Once you get to these types of power it all comes down to the balls above the seat, not the balls under the seat.

After nearly 8 years, looking down and reading that "Hayabusa" label across the middle of the bars, stills make me grin like looney, whilst I wring its neck. I've riden the ZX, yeah it pulls just as hard, but it doesn't make me feel "Special" in that down in the balls wayFatman

But then, I'm just a perverted biased Hayabusa rider.

Suzuki sit up and take note, the pipes and rear end look are far better than the 08 Bus (IMO). Other thing about the Qwak is that each year they get the bugs ironed out and improved upon, another 8 year wait for Gen2 MKII Busa?

Ok, i'm back from holidays but while I was in Coffs Harbour, I installed a power commander with a map for flies out which richens up the bottom end.

I already thought it felt better just taking the plates out but once the power commander went in its just insane.

Now let me tell you, it now pulls like a wild boar & will stomp an 08 busa. Trust me, kawasaki neutered the bike too much from the factory. But as soon as you pull the flies & map it hold on!

If you haven't ridden a de-flied, mapped zx-14 you cannot compare.

have you ridden the 08 busa to make the comparison? its a bold statement to make, have you pitted yours against an 08 yet? how about posting your dyno results, would be good to see what figures you ended with
cheers

what the hell is going on with the first baseline run? 114.2 HP?? wtf? 172 is pretty sweet for a gen 1. I'll go get a dyno run done at gecko since I've got a little freebie there. My butt dyno says its something bloody high.

The 114 was the first run with the new cams they had just put in. I asked them to dial them in for low range power, the Busa has enough high end power for this little duck.

Should be interesting.
