Warchild Wrote:I had my done for about $19 (USD).
That's what a new OEM filter and 4 quarts of Vavoline 10-40W cost me. All work I performed myself. No way in hell anyone is touching my bike but me.
That having been said.....
I was a little surprised how many things needed adjustment or tightening. I had to adjust the chain twice the first 500 miles! And there were a number of fasteners that needed to be torqued down a little (the most alarming was the lower bolt on the right caliper - ugh!). The two RPM ranges where significant vibes raise their ugly head (~4500-ish and 6500-ish RPM) seem to contribute to loosening up a number of fasteners.
Otherwise, the initial service is a piece of cake. Don't know how your dealers Down Under take to you all doing your own work, but as long as we retain all receipts for oil, filters, etc, doing our own servicing here doesn't affect any warranty claims whatsoever.
Is the vibration at 6500 there all the way up or is it only at 6500 mine seems to vibrate all the way to 11000 rpm through tank and seat but not the bars

Got mine done the other day basically changed oil, filter, cleaned air filter and threw the laptop on to check and adjust the TPS(throttle position sensor). As well as a quick check over of all bolts. I was there there watching. Cost $100

I just had another call from Slipstream08 and he has been told by Suzuki Australia to revert back to straight mineral oil as soon as possible per the owner's manual.
My first service was $187.00 and it included adjust and lube the chain as well as the usual oil and filter change.
They should be filling with Motul 3100 AT EVERY OIL CHANGE.

Hey Busgo, how many klms on the bike in question? Does "straight mineral oil" also exclude semi-synthetic oils with a mineral base? I thought Motul 3100 was semi-synthetic?
Also, I was quoted $260 for my first service including adjust/lube chain. Ouch.
My apologies Busgo, but I think we've got this issue split across 3 separate threads now:
First Service (GenII Forums)
Service Concerns (GenII Forums)
Ping FBR or other bike shop worker (General Discussion).

I just checked the web via google and Motul 3100 is pure mineral.
Motul 3100 gold IS semi SYNTH.
Motul 5100 is mineral with ester and is approved for wet clutches.
So it looks like either straight 3100 or 5100 for the K8.

Hmm I replied to TIMF at 9:30pm last night and the post has disappered.
The answer is on pages 3-3 and 3-4 of the Owner's Manual Tim.
Full instructions about what oil to use.
It does not refer to the oil as mineral oil BUT the Suzuki Australia technician told Slipstream08 to drain the semi synth and replace it with motul 3100 that is mineral oil.
The bikes are shipped from the factory with MOTUL 3100 and they have had no problems with any bikes running it.

BUSGO!!!
I'm glad you brought this up. I saw your reply and I also replied "Cheers".
Then this error message came up saying "Account Suspended" or similar. It happened whenever I tried to access the site. It was a domain hosting type message, and said to contact the webmaster or whatever.
