whats the most distance you've travelled in a day? I'm coming to jindy, its about 1200kms from adelaide , thinking about doing it in 1 day, asked some truckies at work about pleecemen on the roads the way I plan to go, they reckon their not a problem.
how far do you do in a day? your input appreciated

I can quite comfortabley do about 800 in a day if I want to. Especially once daylight savings kicks in. If I have a long day in the saddle, I leave at about 6am and pull up at about 4pm.
If you had a good 1 hour rest in the late afternoon, you could easily do another 3 or 4 hundred ks before dark.
I don't know if you will get an answer from Cowboy or Tone but they have bums that are shaped to the saddle and have been known to do much longer day rides.

I used to do regular rides from kalgoolie to perth on my 95 daytona triumph when I lived in WA. the body is a lot older & rounder nowadays ,dont know how the bones will cope with that sort of distance in a day. I regurlarly do 300-600km sunday rides with no pain, but with plenty of stops. I'll probably wing it & if I burn out will stop overnite somewhere & relax

split your ride, its safer. do 750 odd 1st day have a good sleep and cruise in alert and alive doing 450k the next day. do it in one hit you may be endangering yourself in the last 300k's. Thats my advice.

I think Cowboy gets the title - he did 2000 in a day. (Brisbane to Mackay........ AND BACK!!)
I think about 1200 is my best, and I tend to agree with Volvi - more than 8 or 900 a day is asking for trouble.

did a bit over 1200km's twice at he speed limit. my only suggestion is rest up alot the couple of days before u do it. get yor self a camelback hydration system and keep your fluids up. alot of people that do big stints on a bike seem to forget they sweat alot and smashing a 600ml bottle of water at fuel stops just wont cut it. if you keep hydrated and have small snacks along the way and decnt no fatty ligt meals regularly you will be right doing long days riding. come back to doing anything physically exherting for long periods of time

I'm obviously a pussy.
Phillip Island to the central coast was about it for me. about 1000k.
but sore arse for a couple of days after.
why not break the ride and enjoy the journey. Sometimes it's the journey and not the destination.
You're most welcome to camp on floor at my place in Tallangatta Thursday night if you want. (Or I'll give you a motel room at cost)
We'll be leaving for Jindy about 10am Friday Morning.
I don't want a pickle . . .
I picked up my new busa in September 04 in Sydney and rode it to Townsville. It was the first time I had sat on a busa and the first time I'd ridden a bike in over ten years.
First day was Sydney to Kingaroy running the motor in - had it serviced by my mate at Kingaroy Suzuki overnight then next day rode to Townsville and the chiropractor.
Around 2400k's in 2 days then back to work the next day.
Never again

I did Brisbane to Dubbo 1 day & then Dubbo to Melbourne the next day when I moved to Melbourne.
Bike was fully loaded with about 100kgs + me.
The entire way on the speed limit as I had just been given the 1 point for 12mths option.
