Saying Hi with a stack of Q's
#1
Ok I'm another newbie dropping in to say hi and pick your brains.

I'm presently another blackbird rider that's sick of waiting for Honda to extract their whatever!!

Went to the Brisbane bike show last year , saw the new Bus and just went WOW! Drooled over it at PI as well.

Firstly can someone recommend the best Suzuki dealer in Brisbane. I've heard some horror stories but then Honda are no better.

Went and had another look at Team moto at Virginia yesterday and have some Q's

Can they be bought for less than the 18500 plus on roads anywhwere.

What are the must haves eg radiator protector as I'm going to try and screw them for something in that price. It was interesting to see the size of the oil cooler and that it was under the radiator. Do busas traditionally have a heat problem and on the 08 where does the heat escape with all those engine hugging inner fairings? My calves have been nicely barbequed on the BB and now I'd like to cook something different.

Did the previous models have problems with the rectifyers frying themselves.

I hate the cans as do most but probably for a different reason. The main black body of the cans looks like the sort of finish you expect on a dirt bike can. They are huge but they do balance the look of the bike. I'd probably want to get rid of them however I haven't a clue as to what with as the Akra on my bird would look puny. What are they made of and could they be polished.

I have scanned some threads regarding mapping which the bike would need if the oems were taken off. Has anyone got any idea if remapping is possible?

Will the bike accept ethanol blends?

What weight rider does the factory set these things up for? I'm 6'3 and 110 kgs and don't want to go through another blackbird experience fixing the suspension to get a roadworthy bike.

What scrapes first on the 08's. I've got to get rid of the BB before I run out of headers. The BB peg feelers will hit first but a decent bump mid corner causes carnage elsewhere.

Are the new Bridgestones up to the job? I don't want anything less grippy than powers so should I get them to deliver it with something better?

Perhaps I'm picky but I wasn't impressed with the rim finish either.

Well that's all I can think of for now other than do they come with a get out of gaol free card?

Thanks guys

Tony

Welcome TONY.
You certainly have got some questions.
You will find nearly all the answers among our discussions and we would be repeating ourselves over and over to answer them all for every newbie.
Yes, you can buy them cheaper if you are prepared to travel.
I think the best deal in QLD is on the Sunshine coast.
The hero knobs are longer than on the old model but the busa leans quite a way before scraping anything.
The new BT015 tyres are terrific. I don't think I'll be replacing them with another tyre unless they die at less than 6,000 ks.
The rims on the blue bike (GOLD) are the best. They are metalflake in the sunshine and appear matt in the shade.

I had a 99 model for over 3 years and had no problems with the rectifier but the new model has a total electrics refit including immobiliser and stronger lights.

The taller guys are complaining about the windscreen but I love it at 173cm.
You will probably need a pair of rearset pegs if over 180cm.
The new model has twin radiator fans and a larger radiator to boot.
I have been riding on some hot days here in Newcastle and the bike does not suffer and neither have I from the heat coming off it.
"If time catches up with you. You're going too slow!"

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum. You will be very happy with the Hayabusa. As a friend of mine once said to me "Better your sister in a Brothel than your best mate on a Honda" Lol3

The engine in the bus is long lasting. The oil cooler is big because Suzuki like to effectively cool the oil. As for the hot spots, it's the legs, but only if standing for a long time at the lights and the fan kicks in. But nobody I know has ever complained about excessive heat off the bike so I dont believe it's a problem.

They are a very good allround bike. It will not do what a GSXR1000 does, but you can ride to the Snowys from Sydney and not need a chiropractor when you get there. And when you give it a handful, everything else will not matter.

Yes they are available in brissy for less than 18500 + on roads
Hows 17 ride away?
If you paln on pushing it hard in the twisties the stock suspension is not up to the task for the fuller figured rider no matter how much you screw the settings you will get a compromise but the right weight springs will make the world of difference.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I won't be in the market until late Feb, but I can't think of a good reason not to upgrade.
Just got back from a ride on the bird which still manages to put a smile on my face even though it's 10 year old technology.

I was dead keen on the jaffa but after seeing the blue I've been converted. Gold rims mmmmm...

Thanks for your PM 1300Hayabusa and I'll call you Monday early evening.
