Anyone tried sanding the black parts that flank the tank and surround the dash?
Some photos I've seen suggest that's what's been done.

Yep, thats easy enough. Just do it by hand with W&D. Not too fast. That shit will melt. They aren't big anyways, just take your time. You might get mixed results though with the crappy plastic as far as final finish goes. I imagine you plan on painting them?

Yep, I thought I might as well go ape on this lot being the cheap "carton of beer" fairings!

Can't go wrong then. Rock on brother.

I had my Panels painted,
I'm sure they did a light sand then sprayed with high filler to get the smooth finish very happy with the result . ![]()

I haven't done my bike yet. Paint is still a way off, but when it's done I'll add photos. I've done a few mods along the way. Nothing too radical, but just the odd little bit, like getting rid of the tank flange etc.
Just about sick and tired of sanding though! Got my LED taillight last night, so just checking out if I also need to retain some small stalk indicators before I get into too much cutting of undertail section.

Bloody hell. I've been sanding hours now! Still two parts to go. What a pain.
Still, should look the goods once done.

Is that what happened. Wondered why it wasn't working. When I looked I was down to wearing out my finger prints!
Done now. Took the gear to the painter who said the finish was excellent, so worth while in the end. |
