re warped disks
#1
hey every body out there.
quick question without notice. has anybody had a problem with warped disks??????. had my 03 ( with 25k showing) back to the dealers bout four weeks ago saying that i thought the back brake seemed ineffective. they bled it up and I guess it felt better at the time. but during our ride through the southern states I have felt the brake pedal pulsing now and then and pulling up is not quite the smooth affair it was. Well to cut it short measured the run-out just now and where the book says .03 mm (12 thou) I have something in excess of 30 though ie nearly three times the service limit. will be back to the dealer tomorrow and ask if they measured it when I complained. and also to request it be replaced.

Yours

Tom, you need to be a bit careful when measuring the runnout of the disks as they are fully floating on the bobbins........... grab one with your hand and see how much it moves from side to side.

Oh yeh 0.3 =12thou and 0.3=1.2thou.

hope this helps before you rush off ...... non the less

TOM: You must use that back brake a bit to get it hot enough to warp it (if it is warped) ????? Could it be dragging for some reason or copped a whack that you don't know about ??

Managed to warp my fronts with a bit of repeated hard braking, & I am unimpressed with the outcome as I don't ride this bike any harder than my previous rides :">

Hi All
couple of things here then the good news. yes the rear disk is warped ( by more than 30 thou in the old money not quite sure what that is in stupid meters but it is way more than service limit) no i dont need to be careful when i measure it. the rear disk is not a floater it is fixed.

Got the news today Suzuki is going to replace the disk and pads under warranty. parts have been ordered and I am to take her in when they arrive.
