99 changed low beam globe 3 weeks ago. Today no low beam so no ride to work. Remove nose, faarrrk! Low beam globe exploded! Checked battery & reg/Rec seems ok last globe change. Something bad here! Gunna pull body work off and dig around, but any known soft wiring points? Talking big current drain me thinks. Side note. Can't set clock cause if I do, the thing will labour to start and reset clock! So prolly something near the front of bike. Any chance the instrument panel is how ya goin'?

Before you go pulling your bike to pieces....if you handle the globes with your fingers and the oil from your skin gets on them......they can explode during use.
chuck another globe in, don't touch the glass, and see how you go. If that one blows/explodes you know there is an obvious problem. If it's all good, could have simply been the glass of the globe.

Thanks but did not touch the last globe. I used the plastic bag that the globe came in to place the globe in. I learnt a little from when the kat threw a globe and reg/Rec. Thanks though.

I've never come across a soft spot... but have pinched wires through bolts, fastening fairings on too tight, etc... Let us know what you find.

OK, changed the globe weeks ago and it's all good! But going to work yesterday after 70k's, last corner to car park stop for elders to cross the road and konk! Try the starter button, no happy turn of the motor just very slow rr, rr, nothing. OK, must nee new battery. Lucky get Actions Parra to put one aside. Take out old battery, man 04/06. 7.5yrs old. 120 CCA, better call Actions to see CCA rating of next battery. 100 CCA! Turn up at Action's and go, what about more CCA? they found a 115 CCA but sits about 4mm or so higher than 120 CCA shit'd batt. Yep i'll take that. Surprise, it fit's. Seems good now so i'll let you know if I have problems. Cheers all. BTW, clock seems to stay also! cool!

You should still carefully wipe it even when taking it from the packaging as the person who put it there could have left their fingerprints on it. Garanteed explossion as Paul said.
