Steering damper
#1
Hi all

Been I while since I posted.
Watched an interesting vid on youtube and it got me thinking. Maybe my random vibration is the steering damper too.

Checked and yep my damper is loose as hell.

Bolt is tight as can be, but the damper is VERY loose.

Is there a specific part I need or should I just get a couple of rubber bushes and be done with it?

1999 - Gen 1 (Obviously)

Thanks in advance.

It is supposed to be quite loose, in terms of wobbling up and down. Is that what you mean?

supposed to have some free play up and down.

as already stated.... verticle play is okay, only reduces (dampens) movement in horizontal movements...

however the "rattleing" could create a vibration???

also check actual steering nuts for tension.... I have to do mine over next few weeks as there is movement in it

the handle bars are supposed to have 200-500 gram retention when dampener is taken off. I think I have about 400g with dampener on LOL

ok so it seems to move quite a bit but if it is supposed to move up and down then I guess it is ok.

Do I need to remove the nose fairing to get to the steering nuts?
