I feel your pain, Louwai. That is just greed on the part of the building management company/owner of the building. Possible options: 1) Get all of the bike/scooter owners to lobby the building management company. 2) Contact TT or ACA. 3) Sneak in with a stencil and some spraypaint and create lots of motorcycle spaces. Also, I wish I knew where I could park all day for only $6.

I have my doubts that this is legal, I'd be making inquiries.
Other than that, my suggestion would be that you can comfortably fit 3 - 4 bikes in 1 car space. Find 2 or 3 other bike riders that would be willing to split the car rental space. However, $580.00 PM for a friggin CAR SPACE, are you F#%KING KIDDING ME? That's $145.00 a friggin week. Does that include valet parking and a weekly wash, wax & detail?

I've sent a letter to several news papers as well as ACA. We'll see. Lotsa security cameras unfortunately. But I've managed to obtain a copy of the original building Developement Application fromthe council. There is specific mention of bycicle spaces & car spaces, but nothing about bikes So according to that document they are within their rights. 3 to 4 bikes in 1 space EASILY, but the building management will not allow more than 2 bikes per space. Works out to $14.50 per day per bike. May as well park in the private car park for $6 / day. Just means that I have to walk half a k to the building.

I also have doubts that they could enforce the 2 bikes per space rule. What grounds could they possibly have. Do they also insist that only 2 people can car pool in each car that will be taking up a space? F#ck em, sounds like they're being a bunch of F#ckwits. If it was me, I sure as f#@k wouldn't be bending over for the rough end of the pineapple. As Rainbow said, take it to ACA and TT. I'd also be taking it to council and even writing to the bitch Anna (Lets sell every asset) Bligh. Do you belong to a union? Take it to them. I know my union would have these pricks in court faster than the little F#ckwits can paint over their little white lines.

Sounds like a motorcycle carpark blockade is on the cards.
Rally all the riders to move their bikes in at 4:45pm and see how they like that..

Its a service they provide in the building they manage or own,if one does not like what they offer go else where.Maybe at the begining of the year or when getting your working contract renewed one should include/ demand the parking fees/voucher in their package. You could also include the charges to your taxes as an expense if your accountant has some flare......nothing is free in the lucky country!!!!

They own / manage the building & have total control over what happens. Even the car space rental contract says that they can change their mind at any time regardless of you paying $580/mth for the space. The only hope we may have had was if the DA included mention of Motorcycle parking spaces, but alas it does not. If it did then the council could force them to comply. I've written to the Lord Mayor with no response. I've also written to David Hinchliffe (member for Brisbane), he responded at 10.30pm last night saying that the council have no durisdiction & it's a matter between users & management.

Nothing in that building application to say you cannot park in the foyer?

Things possibly may be looking up.
I've been in discussion with David Hinchcliffe, Councillor for Brisbane Central. He is still investigating, but he currently believes his hands are tied due to the legally binding Developement Approval document. BUT, He also gave me the name & details of a staff member at The City News paper. They have grabbed the story & want to push it all the way. So, we may not get a resolution for our building, but it's possible that the process for Developement Applications in the furure may change to specifically include motorcycle parking. We'll see. |
