Rectifier/regulator

Does anyone know or be able to tell me if the rectifier or regulator are the same for all years. I been reading through the threads on here relating to charging problems and think mine may be gone. Which plug is usually the one most people had problem with? the plug on my rectifier seems ok but is not charging anywhere near 14.5 volts more like 13.4. So was wantin gto know do i need to get one off same year bike or will any gen 1 work my bike is a 2000 model. Also anyone got one laying round i can try would be greatly appreciated before go buy one.

I had problems the with my 99 the coupling behind the cylinders had corroded and melted i just seperated them and soldered them.only three wires.i bought a 06 rectifier did not end up useing it so i sold it.got mine from the states.it was the same as my 99.hope this helps.crumpy
