How To Sell a Hayabusa in WA
#1
Hi Guys,
I haven't posted on here in years (literally as I had to create a new account and all) but I thought I'd put a question to you lot:
How do you sell a bike, a Hayabusa, in Western Australia? In Melbourne I sold 2 bikes and bought my current 'busa using BikePoint.com.au and I've sold a car and helped a friend sell a bike and bike parts all using the internet. In WA it seems bike buyers don't use this new fangled thing. So anyone able to tell me how I can sell my Hayabusa here in WA?
Is there a particular website that is more used here?
Does the Quokka newspaper actually work? (since there are stacks of tiny ads just all piled up together)
Should I stick a 4 Sale sign on my bike when I leave it at the train station while I go to work?
Or something else?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Sell it to CAMEL real real cheap so he can rip the motor out & do a job on it that will probably cost more than the bikePi_thumbsup

well you could always start by advertising it here in the for sale section, just do yourself a favour and include pics and detail the extras. Otherwise the usual spots like bikesales, bikepoint.com etc. and hopefully other WA members may advise you further.

PS. I recall your nic.

You know I didn't think to put it in the classifieds here.
I've got the bike in Bikepoint and Bikesales and Gumtree but they've only provided the usual scammers eg "I work on an oil rig so can't do internet banking and an agent will come pick up the bike..."

Volvi: I did come to a Melbourne Latte sess once, obviously when I was in Melbourne, and I saw Eric Banner's signature on a Suzuki Across! I feel privileged.

Things about selling bike in WA, based on my past 18 month observation of us being in WA.

High Mileage Bikes dont sell in WA.

4 Sale signs wont sell hyper bikes in WA.

Try ebaying for some time and it could help.

Buy Sunday Times - it usually carries advt from Dealers - for selling Bike on commission basis - this is the safest bet.

WA is massive - hence communication and ability to help people view the bike - makes sale easy.

WA is a mining state, people are on rosters (fly in - fly out) and most of them are passionate about what they ride / drive, due to cash rich economy - usually prefer new bikes - for which we pay more then any other state.

Add in PerthStreetBikes - wont sell your Hyper Bike.

You can trade the same for any other thing i.e new bike, boat or car....

My 2 cents

All good points Bill. I might add that you should shop around for commission rates from dealers.

I also note that you specifically point out "Sunday Times". Would that be because "The West" doesn't even bother to include a bikes section?

I didn't realise dealers would take bikes on consignment. Any in particular or should I just ask around?

Suzuki dealerships probably have more 'cred', but may want a lot more in their cut. I used to pay between 5 and 10% in commish. I've heard other sellers pay as much as 20%!

What year, how much and where are you located?
Bikes just aren't selling at all in Perth no matter what they are. Ask Rick Gill, he's had an '03 z1000 for 18months on the floor. People just want way too much $$.
I'm in the market for another early Gen1 though.
