Service questions/information
#1
Hi again guys

Well I pick the new bike on Wed and first thing I plan to do it a service with fluids and filters being replaced. Not sure how long since these have been done, so I figure why now + it gives me a better chance to go over the bike, once I pull off farings, etc.

First questions is in regards to K&N filters.

I tried a K&N + BMC filters on the 97 Blackbird. Being a carby bike & state of tune, the BMC/K&N caused the bike to lean out to much, which made it run like a pig. Only choice was to re-jet and I was not about to stuff around with carbs.

Question is the EFI system + O2 senor on the Busa able to compensate without having to us a power commander and will a K&N/BMC on a stock BUSA again make it run like a pig, due to running to lean?

Second question in regards to the oil filter.

I used to get mine from Supercheap/Peps/Auto One/Autobarn as Ryco made the same filter but it was not seen as the genuine Honda item and at 1/2 the cost.

Does anyone know if there is a Ryco Filter and it's number that I may be able to get in place of the Suzuki item, which I am sure will be marked up due to it being motorcycle specific?

3rd question Plugs

I gather that all BUSAS run Iridium plugs?

Thats about all I can think of for the moment.

Thanks again in advance.

K&N air filter I have a good 2nd hand one you can have for $30 if you want it ( I live down the road at Windsor) & the bike won't run lean just with a air filter
Oil filters I don't think you will get from super cheap autos, you can a K&N one from Pepes auto Windsor near the railway station ask for Simon Tell him I said to go there (best ring him first & tell him what you need) He will look after you & He can get you the Iridium plugs at a good price also, make sure ypu tell him its a Gen1 the plugs gen2 are little different
Pm me if you want my number

Iridium is a choice with a long service interval ,std cr9e will also work fine.

Busa oil Filter

Suzuki use a non standard thread on their oil filter. K&N and Kawasuki on this forum have replacements if you dont want OEM.

Excellent Tomrux, I will have to have a look and see if it works. I will also get a K&N as Simmo mentioned as a backup, just in case.
