Gov't paying for your new car
#1
I have always said that I would never buy a new car. Just a total waste of money, because once you drive it away you lose heaps, . . .
BUT,

I Bought a new car yesterday.

I was in the market for one about 1-2yr old with about 20-30k on the clock. When you take off the 30% the govt are willing to throw in to get you to buy a new car and not 2nd hand, it was actually cheaper to buy new. Plus you get new tyres, 12 months rego, new windscreen, new car warranty, (also someone like me hasn't thrashed the life out of it), it was really a no brainer. Plus I can depreciate it over the next 3 years and get another 20% back. - I like this recession!!Clap

Do you think they'll do the same for bikes? A brand spanking new 2009 busa for about $9k sounds fair to me.Lol3

Bet the 2nd hand market is about to go completely belly up!!

Still, if creates jobs I'll just have to put up with it.Pi_thumbsup

Not only that............now in Vic you can get a huge gov't subsidy to get your car onto LPG, another to convert your house to solar power, now some car industry stooge wants the taxpayers to fund a $4000 subsidy on new cars................. FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!

Not to worry that the trains are rooted, you can't get a drink of water or a hospital bed Lol3

You donâ€t get 30% off the price, you get to claim a one off 30% depreciation . So if your business makes a $60k profit for the year you are be taxed at 30% for what ever profit you make which is $18k. Say you buy a $30k vehicle and you take advantage of this one off offer from the government you can claim your 30% deprecation on the vehicle ($9k) bringing down your yearly profit to $51k so you only pay $15,300, difference or your gain will be $2700. It is really 30% of 30% which roughly works out at just under 10% of the purchase price.

Don't forget you can still depreciate it as well. Seperate to the one off gov't incentive.

I'm now looking at a new bus as well (not the 2 wheel -the 8 wheel variety)
