Steering Damper Oil = easier tip ins
#1
Hi guys,
Gary sold me his spare steering damper, I have been concerned that the 90 weight gearbox oil I put in the empty steering damper after i pulled it out to have a squizz might be the reason I have been fighting with changes of direction at low speeds. i rode Heidis the other night checking the braided lines I put on her bike and was amazed at how much easier her bike changed direction. Got Garry's, stuck 50 weight in it and "hey presto" lighter steering and much quicker direction changes. Gotta be happy with that.

True enough, I saw a suggestion for the 80 to 90 in that particular thread o he ease of repairing/refilling the damper, had no idea it would have such an effect on the slow steering. Someone else recently (think it was you old man) suggested 50 and got it right, Thanks.

Did you renew the tyres at the same time Max? or change tyre pressures?

I know that it might sound dumb, but you would be suprised on how much difference 10 psi makes. I decided to check my tyres as the bus was feeling slugish and it was down to 30psi front and back. Now it feels like it is on blades!

No Gazza,
They are still running 40 front 42 rear mate. I hear what you're saying Fords, a few psi certainly can make a difference.
