Camshaft 2nd Intake

Hi all just hoping for bit of advice on doing the second intake camshaft mod.

1: What cam timing did you end up using? From the number's i've read i'm thinking just swap the intake timing num around for exhaust, which then brings it very close to the 08 exhaust timing just slightly longer and slight higher lift.

2: Anyone ever fitted an apr manual cam chain tensioner, if so did you just put standard bolt in to block oil feed? Was thinking maybe put oil pressure gauge of it since it's there.

done a couple at 105-108 lobe centres depending on the bike and use

rather keep the std hydraulic assisted chain tensioner, seen damaged tensioner runners and streached chains from over tightening and rattles in the top end from lack of adjustment

You will want an increase in compression ratio or else you lose a lot of bottom end due to increased valve overlap, its very noticeable if you ride on the street. I would have to check my figures but I guess I had somewhere around 105/107 or 106/108. It pulls clean to redline and doesnt nose over like stock does at those diallings but how often do you rev to 10,800rpm. The moment you let the clutch out at idle or try to lug up a hill in top gear at say 2000rpm youll realise how gutless she becomes down low, so be aware of this before you do this mod.

I understand where your coming from on the bottom end loss, i guess i've been through couple of configurations now and at moment it is a lot punchier down low then when i got it so if i don't lose too much i'll be fine. And i can alway's pull it back out.

As for the tensioner, i had too many failure's in the past to trust them and as a mechanic know how to adjust them.

I did notice talk about gen2 exhaust cam into gen 1, with the issue's your talking bout it probably is the better option but haven't seen one available yet and are the cam bearing's the same with the locating ring?

just put the gen1 cam bearing on it while you fit an adjustable gear.There only 300 odd bucks new fom suzuki that exhaust cam.thats here in Australia.lIke chris said i wouldnt do it without more compression.I redialled my stock gen1 cams from 104/100 up to 106/103 and gained 7hp but lost some power under 4500.Gen1s dont have enough compression to use bigger cams without noticeably loosing bottom end.
