The Owner's Handbook is very specific about oil in the K8 BUSA.
I suggest that you don't let the dealer do what he wants unless he follows the book as below.
Put the recommended oil in the bike and you won't have any problems.
MOTUL 5100 with Ester is semi-synth and applies to the manual recommendations which are as follows if you don't have a handbook.
SAE 10W-40 with API SPECS OF SF/SG or SH/SJ or JASO MA.
Any full synth oil or oil that doesn't meet these specs may cause clutch and gear shifting problems.

Better to let the motor settle in a while longer than 1000k before going to full synth. BTW SF rating is likely to be the no name el cheapo stuff at Woolies, so just about anything is OK as long as you use 10W/40 or whatever is applicable to your operating climate and don't use friction modified oil to keep the clutch happy. Later ratings than SF may not necessarily give better engine protection because as of late I believe that oil ratings are more inclined to protect the environment than your engine, for example additives like zinc compounds are used to reduce engine wear and are found in high concentrations in the old Mobil 4T bike oil and later eco friendly spec oils cointain very little of potentially environment harming additives.
Change oil often and she'll stay clean inside!
