80000 in 18 months. That is impressive Scary

I just clocked up 78,000 on my K6 which I bought new in Jan 06.

The only issue:
when doing the valve clearances at 72,000 (all were still within limits) some very minor pitting was found on the cam lobes. These were polished out with no problems. I had a new cam chain fitted while the cams were out.

Nice going there chaps, thank you for chiming in.
I can't see myself wearing the Busa out...it's meant for people with hairs on their palms...(!)
I don't think I'll swap it (and I truly love it too!)
for the XJR after all!

How about the (main)chain? When did you change? Will the original see out 40K km, if properly maintained?

Apparently the engine frees up around 60k mark.I think from my experience with gsxr1000s the last one did 30k in 1 year , nothing went wrong.changed tyrres and oil.cleaned chain with kerosene. Did not even adjust it androde it like I stole it ( seriously wrung its neck) all it had was a slash cut hot bodies exhaust. As my mech said only was to break these bikes is to crash them. I think the bus a is a long term keeper hence the reason i bought one.
Don't tempt fate,TAUNT IT!

Ive got a K8 with about 53000km. A high proportion of this is commuting which is hardest on engines. Until 2 wks ago no problems. Have recently startrd to blow fuse in instrument pael which hopefully is just the fuel sender malfunctioning.

I look after the bike (do my own servicing) but arent obsessiveabout it. I dont change oil earlier than specified etc etc.

If you want to turn it over 40,000 seems to be the magic mark whre for some obscure reason bikes seem to lose value even though there are plenty of Busas ith 100,000+ KM. Apart from the 40,000 issue dereciation is highest at th beginning of ownership and reduces.

If your only concern is reducing cost of ownership, kee it until the Gen 3 comes out. if it is 10years between new versions (or even 8) you stilll have 3-4 yrs of trouble free riding.

I now have 103,500 klms on my K6. Clogged fuel filter wouldn't let it run past 7,500 rpm. Clean filter and fuel strainer and it goes like a rocket again.

These kilometres are all mine :)
