What's the matter with some of you?

You can't seriously be suggesting we should ban a breed of dog because it attracts a neglectful owners!? Christ's sake this is a forum for the hayabusa, a road bike designed not to break the speed limit but annihilate it!

Hmm .... Agreed, i own an amstaf, or American staffodshire terrier. I also own a hayabusa, err so whats that say about me.. Also agree that the dogs personality tends to reflect on the owners, my dog is VERY good natured, he infact sleeps with my kids most nights, and i never feel worried for there safety.. BUT, i never take him out of my yard without a lead as he doesnt like other dogs that much. Funny thing is i would rather have my kids around my Amstaf, than my parents Standard poodle, which is the grumpiest son of a bitch ive ever come across.. oh and incase you didnt know Poodles were bread for hunting by the french ... go figure..

My brother had a pitbull, it was very good natured, gentle around kids and knew its place. But I never really trusted it. When she had pups, (crossed with another pitbull)one of the pups attacked one of his kids and left scars across her head. It was just lucky that it was a pup, or it could very easily have been another fatality. Oh, and yes . . . my brother fits the owner mould.

I think laws should be changed to make dog owners totally legally liable for their animal's actions. Their is a place in society for dogs, but not aggressive untrained dogs.

Every time I hear about some pensioner being eaten by her own dog, it's always a German Shepherd.

In defence, their owner has usually been dead for a few days or so, unnoticed by neighbours or social services, and the dog just got hungry.

That is sometimes true, indeed, but I have known a number of GS's and they were all aggressive dogs, none of which I would ever trust.

Obviously the GSD's you have encountered have dickheads for owners! My family have owned GSD's for years and never had an aggressive one yet....don't tar the entire breed with the same brush.....same goes for pit bulls.......owners are/should be wholly responsible for the dogs behaviour regardless of breed.

Please come to Newcastle and allow this dickhead to introduce you to his GSD......he doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body, but in your case I'm sure he'll make an exception.

There is level of hysteria in the media every time there is a dog attack, and calls for breeds to be banned. Britain wrestled with trying to ban pitbulls for a while, but the main problem is defining the breed. Also, attacks are usually by cross-breeds, so do you ban pitbulls and anything stocky and muscular with a big grin. By that definition, you'll also be taking out half the blokes I've gone out with as well.

Banning a breed isn't the answer, prosecuting the f*** out of idiots who don't know how to train, socialise and contain a dog is. Make the penalties so extreme that it isn't worth it for someone who has low self esteem and something to prove to own one, but keep the dog for people who love the breed.

P.S. I've never met a GS I don't like, family-orientated and loyal breed. I love every breed of dog except the labrador. DAMN that is a waste of dog food.

Breed mixing in this country turned mutts into "designer dogs" with a ridiculous price tag,all in the name of looks while fully forgetting the health,attitude and aggression problems that rise with that practise.
Ban the owners and make them responsible if the dog attacked someone while it was unsecured,than kill it.IMO if a dog with a high temperament for aggression has attacked a human being his perception of who's master and servant is lost and he will attack again.
Im not sure why you're surprised that everyone is painted with the same brush,Ive been saying that for over 15 years,it's the national hobby.
