Give them the "dunlop"
Saw this a couple times in Africa, if the locals catch you stealing or in this case looting they put the old dunlop tyre around your neck and set fire too you. Problem fixed, sends a dam good message to all those considering stealing.

During the Canberra fires five years ago, there was a great story from a mate of mind. The day after the big fires hit and 500 houses were lost, we were all terrified, the fires were still burning and we'd been told to evacuate or prepare to stay and fight (those of us on the outskirts). Three teenagers (WHO WERE OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER) were found on O'Connor Ridge lighting a fire by a mate of mine who's house backed onto the reserve and a few other residents. They grabbed the teenagers and called the cops. Two cop cars turned up and they met the residents who were holding the three struggling and swearing teenagers.

The cops looked over the teenagers and agreed with the locals that they were complete bastards and would go to jail. Then the cops turned to the men who were holding them and said, 'there is something we need to do back at the car, we'll be back in about 5 minutes'. The locals all started to protest, they wanted the cops to take the bastards and put them in JAIL! The older cop turned to the men and said, 'you are not listening to me, we are going back to the car, we will come back and arrest them in 5 minutes' and walked away.

I know it sounds like one of 'those' stories, but it is true. I love old-school policing.

And I guess after the 5 minutes the cops came back and arrested those that were holding the lowlifes for an assault. That is how the "law" works these days. You want to do something right do it yourself ...and keep quite about it.
