Ben is not the only one, several in the US have had probs and i have a bike with a siezed crank that could be associated with the reusable filter that was on there, not had the time to strip it down and see exactly what the cause was, i used to have 3 bikes with them on, now none, at least till i can be sure there not contributing

I've had one for about 4 years. Change the oil evry 4,000km and have done about 80,000km on it with no problems.
I wash it out with every oil change, but I'm not sure that does any good, so there might be a question that they'll eventually clog up at some point. If there is a problem, are there any warning signs before it goes BANG!
I only commute and don't usually have the problems with most things people bring up, and I think it's because those guys are performance riders, where these things probably are a concern. Reviews are good for these filters, but I don't trust reviews... I'm not being a good advert for these things, eh?
I think they're very good - certainly save a shit load on cost of filters, but they might need throwing away after 150,000 - 200,000km, (my estimation), but who knows? I might try to post a picture of mine with all those kms on it, if that's of any use to someone.
Carpe Diem!

From what i see on mine , the screen size has much less surface area than a paper filter
the last time i cleaned one of mine i had to repeatedly wet it and knock on a block of wood to get fine particals out of it that were not easily visible but added up to a lot by the time i had finished
If your not pushing the limits like Ben was and like i was on my race busa then the results may not be so obvious nor happen as quickly , and may never have a problem.??
