I did this on Sunday just gone with two other blokes and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure it was annoying travelling the 100km from my place just to get to Uralla, which is about 20km west of Armidale, but I love roads with long straights and open sweepers. And this one was 72km with about just over 60km of the good stuff. Not one for the knee scratchers, but there is less than 1cm of untouched rubber on my rear tyre now, which is enough for me.
I actually think I enjoyed it more than the blokes I went along with simply because I had a Hayabusa, which isn't a scratcher. Whereas they had a worked TLR 1000 and a stock GSXR 1000. Perhaps they will do better when we go to Ginger's Creek when things warm up.
To find this little beauty, it starts at the little town of Uralla which is on the New England highway between Tamworth and Armidale. Take some cash if you want to grab a bite to eat because technology hasn't found it's way into all Australian towns yet.

Hey Tristo. I live at the other end of that road at Inverell, another 40ks north of Bundarra. The technology jibe was a bit harsh.
There are some fabulous road up here. Heading down to Uralla in the morning, then down Thunderbolts to Gloucester, across to Nabiac and on to Forster for the night.
If your up this way again, give me a holla and I'll try to hook up with you guys. Or if you want to make a weekend of it let me know and you can grab a bed.
Same goes for you Driller, and the rest of you guys and gals.
See other post re this week end ride to Sydney via Putty Rd.
Cheers, Dave

Driller: Not entirely sure if it would fit into a return trip but, if you find yourself in Uralla or even the smaller Bundarra with a spare 60-70 minutes, it is certainly a worthwhile blast where you aren't restricted to watching the speedo else the boys in blue say a few words. And I can't tell you much about the roads around Bingara mate. I imagine they would be sealed now, probably quite well too so that maintenance isn't an issue, but I haven't been in that area for about 10-12 years and there was some dirt to deal with. Great camping areas around Bingara back then though, could be worth looking at.
SubRX: Don't worry about the technology jibe, I was just surprised the cafe didn't have EFTPOS. Luckily I had a couple of bucks for a juice. As for joining up for a ride, of course mate. The next ride we are planning will be some time in October/November and the bloke doing the organising ran off names like Gloucester and Warialda so I am sure we can pick you up along the way if you're interested. When I know more exact details I'll send you a PM.
