Does the insurance company offer larger premium discounts for specific alarms/ types of alarms? You should ask the question because there is not much point in spending bulk dollars on an alarm if they are gonna give you the same discount as a $50 dick smith special. No alarm is foolproof...if they want your bike bad enough (and it is a Gen 1 so it's pretty desirable) they'll take it regardless of the alarm.

As Cj said check if they have a list of alarms makes and models .

I have a mongoose alarm fited But this alarm is hard wired not just plug and play like some out there But if you are elec minded you could install yourself .

I have a Mongoose Kev. Works well. Has saved the bike once that I know of. Rod has the same.
About $180 + fitting I think.

There are lots of other good & better ones. I know Volvi has a god one but can't recall the make.

My insurane is reduced for the alarm + is reduced further for the disk lock.

I have a Scorpio SR-i500 system with proximity sensor, tilt sensor, shock sensor mmmmmm think that is about it. Has a pager remote ( which I think has a range of about 800m's ) and is plug and play which took all of about 1/2 an hour to install. You can also get an immobiliser attachment (which I didn't need with the gen 2) .
Here is a link - http://www.scorpioalarms.com/products/motorcycle

Only problem I have had with it was the other day I went to go for a ride and it would not disarm. Yes well after much swearing and cursing and pulling the remote apart Pi_freak I finally got a manual online and found out that after a month of not being used the system locks the remote out to save power Embarassed To reavtivate I had to go out set off the alarm (kicked the tyre out of disgustLol3) and then press the button Yes we were back in action.
Well almost next problem was a flat battery Lol2

Anyway long story short I would recommend this system to anyone Pi_thumbsup
